"Okay," Elena said, grinning. "This week, we're showing off our pretties. I sent a handwavey e-mail out, so I hope everyone got it? If not, take five and go get your guns out of storage. We're doing show-and-tell here. Which gun is your favorite? What are its advantages and disadvantages? Who would you recommend it for? What situations would you not suggest someone use it in?"

She waved her hands at the group. "Enough of me talking. We have guns to drool over."

Show-and-Tell

Show off your weapon*. Explain what it does, ideal targets, and what situations it's less useful for. You can also explain why you favor that particular weapon or how long you've been using it. If you brought several, talk about the pros and cons of each!

If you don't have your own weapon, there are a stash of moddable ones that the gun club has handy. Find one similar to the one you've been training with, and talk about what you like with it and what you don't.

And if you haven't found one you like yet, ask for recommendations! Tell everyone what you need -- hunting, personal protection -- and see what they think.

Algren would not let you touch his gun. But only because his gun, a Winchester Model 1876, was probably worth more than you were.

He would, however, make certain that you were all just looking at (or properly firing) your weapons, instead of waving them about like idiots.

Triela had brought... her entire collection. So three pistols of various sizes, a pair of submachine guns, two combat rifles, and a sniper rifle. And, of course, her baby: an M1897 trench shotgun.

The last one was what she had out, going over it carefully to make sure it was properly clean.

"Shush. Wait for me to list them," Dinah threatened, still grinning. "Any idea how I can get a gun, or what one would be good for me to carry in a big city like New York or New Gotham?"

"As to what you should get... in that kind of environment it's going to depend on what you're wearing." Triela figured that carrying concealed went without saying for the sort of thing Dinah wanted to do.

Dinah frowned, then said, "Probably a leather trenchcoat, most of the time, in the winter. Summer... I don't know what would work. A jacket like yours, maybe?"

"Something you could wear a shoulder holster with, then? That'll let you carry a bigger weapon than if you needed a boot or thigh holster." It was also quicker to draw. Which wasn't a bad thing at all.

"I'm not about the big so much as the accurate," Dinah pointed out. "But, yeah. Getting a carrying concealed permit is going to be tricky, but I want to have something I can work with when I manage to get one."
