Girls with Guns, Wednesday, After Classes
The fog was getting to Elena. She kept seeing shapes move through it, and couldn't tell if they were students, or ... some of those shadows didn't look like students at all.
She was aiming at one of the strange figures when she realized what she was doing. She had no idea what (or who) that was, and just a few months ago, she'd shot a wolf she was convinced was charging her. One that was, in reality, not just an ally, but a guy she considered a friend.
Elena was shaking by the time she reached the Salle. She unloaded, but very, very reluctantly.
"This week, I was going to talk about gun control," Elena said, trying to seem composed, "but right about now I think everyone should have a gun. Can't believe they don't let us keep these in the dorms."
The fog was scary; the gun in her hand was soothing. It made her feel less helpless. Logic didn't enter into it.
"They don't let you keep them in the dorms for exactly this reason," Algren interjected, sternly, stepping forward with his arms crossed over his chest. He had a sword at his hip. Next to a pistol. It was entirely possible that there was a rifle at his back, too. He wasn't taking any chances out there when he was walking home by himself, no. He didn't care how much of a hypocrite that made him. "So that your classmates don't get hurt in moments when your judgment is off."
"I can handle myself," Elena snapped. "They don't let us have weapons because they think we're kids. It's bullshit."
He wanted to take their weapons away. Was he one of them? Students looked like monsters looked like students. Maybe the monsters were just disguised as people, to get close enough to hurt.
Algren's reply to that was a withering look that could have shattered glass.
"All of you, unload your weapons and put them down until you've had an opportunity to calm down. Gunshots aren't going to make any of us less jumpy. There's tea. Drink it. Calm your nerves. In fifteen minutes, we'll start our target practise, as usual. And when it comes time to leave, I want you all to unload or otherwise disarm your weapons. We'll walk to the dorms in a group. Nobody is to attack anything unless it attacks first." He cast narrowed eyes across whoever had been idiot enough to gather here today. "Do I make myself clear?"

But she was here and mingling and staring. She didn't think anyone was a monster, but she was worried about how on edge everyone seemed.
Shooting And/Or Drinking Tea
Re: Shooting And/Or Drinking Tea
If he asked her to turn over her power compact, though, she was totally not going to do that. Even if he was a teacher.
Talk to Captain Algren
Re: Talk to Captain Algren
Also, to make certain that you don't shoot your classmates now. He didn't trust you guys not to at the best of times. And right now certainly did not appear to be the best of times, thank you.
Re: Talk to Captain Algren
There were monsters. She thought there were monsters, anyway. It sure seemed like there were, somehow.
Re: Talk to Captain Algren
Because he wasn't a fan of being shot, thanks.
He was giving her one of those looks that dared her to question his authority.
