Roof | Late Afternoon | Tuesday | March 30
Since it was safe to go out on the roof this week, that's exactly where Alex was and planned on being for awhile. He had a full pack of cigarettes and a half a bottle of something that definitely wasn't water. That was sitting at his feet though since he was currently laying on his back on the edge of the roof, cigarette stuck between his lips as he stared up at the cloudy sky.
He wasn't brooding (despite someone else's thoughts to the contrary) because brooding involved thinking and Alex's brain was blissfully devoid of any thoughts right now. Just a happy buzzing and some pleasant fuzz. He needed to feel like this more often.
Relaxation totally counted as a strenuous activity. He wasn't Rose, he didn't feel the need to train all damn day just to garner the attention of someone he liked. And he wasn't nearly as short and stout as she was. For that, he was pretty damn grateful.

It wasn't exactly a huge shock for Effy to find Alex up here. Tempting as it was to turn around and avoid knowing what he'd seen from her last week, she managed to resist that, stepping closer.
"Don't roll over."

By now it was really only in how casually she was dressed, and the way she'd left the natural wave in her hair that people might know anything had been off. After a week like last week, much of what she normally did felt like a lot of fucking effort she didn't need.
So, back to basics.

Well, maybe 'nice' was the wrong word. But she was quiet.

"Watched some basketball. Took him to Eurodisney." Least classes had been interesting. "Lucky kid."

LOLOL MUN FAILand had already forgotten about it. Too much on his mind."It's just water," he lied even if she could see through it. Sometimes, it was kind of amusing to lie. He could deal when they were small, silly lies. "And I've had enough. I'm not drunk yet. I'd just forgotten. I didn't realize they gave you Europeans a theme park. Though you were too posh for that."

"We've got a few. Creepy costumed people aren't the domain of the US alone." Unfortunately.

Alex was pretty sure that wasn't it but he was too busy pushing himself into a sitting position to care. It took a little effort considering he was about half drunk and he was sitting on the ledge of a fricking roof.
Still, managed to get turned around to face her, make himself look a little more interested physically than just lazy as hell.

"It shut up long enough not to give me a headache?" Which was progress, considering what a pain that fake kid had been. "Wasn't really in the theme park mood."
no subject
"So." He couldn't very well dance around what he'd seen for too long, not when it was a the giant monkey in the room. Or on the roof, so to speak. And not when he'd been concerned. "How are you?"
no subject
"Fan-fucking-tastic." What? He'd expected a truthful, non-sarcastic answer the first time around? "You?"

"Didn't get eaten by a Gigantosaurus on the weekend. Handed off the droid this morning. Got a cigarette now." It was something.

Which had been stupid in hindsight.
"Without a mask." More stupidity. "Whoops."

Focusing on dryly teasing him, rather than thinking about the amount of time he'd spent dealing with her last week worked for her.
no subject
That was a lie if there ever was one. Besides the time he'd spent with her, there'd been so much shit of his own weighing him down that he'd been happy to see the week die a painful death.

"But everything has to eventually, right?"
