Dorm lawn [early afternoon]

Juliet was happily sticking her foot into her mouth on a blanket as Anakin and her (younger, at least theoretically) brother Christopher raced around on the lawn. The little boy squealed loudly as Anakin caught him and tossed him into the air, using the Force to make him hover for a moment.

"Again!"

"Say please," Anakin replied.

"Peas!"

"Close enough."

And being on campus meant that Anakin had put his lightsaber into the weapons locker. And he won't kill people in front of his kids! Come play Jedi tag!

"Hello," Raven said, looking down at the little girl. "What is your name? Who are your parents?"

"Aurore," she shared. "An' my parents are Papa and Daddy." Duh. "Who're you?"

So helpful, these children. "I am Raven," she said. "And this is Anakin." She indicated the spawn of Satan boy beside her. "I go to school here. I might know your parents."

"Raven!" Aurore clapped her hands excitedly. "Daddy knows you! And bonjour, Anakin," she added to the creepy-looking kid.

Anakin stared at Aurore as if possibly sizing her up for inclusion in his future army of evil. "Hello," he said. "Are you the result of magical or genetic manipulation, or were you adopted?"

"Anakin, do not be rude," Raven said.

"I am not adopted," Aurore frowned slightly at Anakin. "Uncle Hank says I was the best puzzle ever." Yeah, that totally cleared things right up.

"Then you are likely the result of magical or scientific tampering," Anakin said. "I find that....very interesting."

"Your face is interesting!" Aurore retorted. That... wasn't quite how the whole 'your face' thing was supposed to work, but like she knew that.

"Can you do anything?" Anakin asked pointedly. Most of the people who went to school here special in some way, so chances were their offspring would be, too.

"Lots," Aurore retorted. "I can do times-tables. And I'm a pretty good speller. And I know French 'cause Papa says it's a important part of my heritage and I should know it even though 'most everyone I know is anglos." Probably not what Anakin meant, but then... he hadn't been specific, had he?

"Can you do anything special," Anakin said, mentally rolling his eyes.

"When I'm big I'll be able to fly," she said proudly. Take that.

"Is that all?" Anakin said. Flying was useful, but not as impressive as being able to manipulate someone's mind.

"No," she answered truthfully, crossing her arms. "But I'm not telling you 'cause then you've got technical 'vantage."

"I can show you what I can do," Anakin said. Ominously.

"Anakin...." Raven said warningly. "Do not be mean."

"Yeah, Anakin!" Aurore echoed. "Do not be mean!"

"I am not mean," Anakin said. "I am merely curious. I can use my powers to make people want things. Or fear things."

"Anakin, you should not use your gifts like that," Raven fretted. "You should use them to help others."

"That is *so* mean," Aurore argued. Had she been a few years older, she might've thought it was the kind of power that could be useful against one's enemies, but she was *five*, so. Mean.

"It is better than flying," Anakin said. "Any bird can do that."

"Not as fast as my Papa can," Aurore insisted. "He's fastest in the world. And one day I will be too!" Modesty: not something that came naturally to Drakes, Beaubiers, or those who were both.
