Dorm lawn [early afternoon]

Juliet was happily sticking her foot into her mouth on a blanket as Anakin and her (younger, at least theoretically) brother Christopher raced around on the lawn. The little boy squealed loudly as Anakin caught him and tossed him into the air, using the Force to make him hover for a moment.

"Again!"

"Say please," Anakin replied.

"Peas!"

"Close enough."

And being on campus meant that Anakin had put his lightsaber into the weapons locker. And he won't kill people in front of his kids! Come play Jedi tag!

"That's okay," Aurore replied. "Daddy can get us some for dinner." she said confidently, because that was a totally balanced meal when you were five.

"No, it's okay!" Des unwrapped the napkin and held up a sad-looking triangular chunk of double chocolate chocolate chip triumphantly. "Lookit, there's some cookie left, an' then maybe Dad an' my mom can get us ice cream for dinner, an' we can dump the cookie crumbs on top."

What? It was a completely awesome idea.

"'s 'cause I'm smart," Des announced. Clearly, a sense of modesty had not been high on the priority list when it came to values to instil in the boy. Because he was smart, and awesome too. Obviously!

"Oh, no," Kennedy cut in, coming up behind him. "You have had way too much sugar for an entire week already."

"Wait wait," Aurore looked at Des, and then at Kennedy, and then back at Des. "Kennedy is your mom? But she likes GIRLS!"

"I knoooooooooow," Des replied. It was really, really hard for him not to know, considering how often Mom liked to tell her friends from her home dimension what a sweet deal she got living in a mansion full of gorgeous women in spandex. "Of course she does! But she's still my mom! Her an' Dad aren't together like that. It's just 'cause it..."

He screwed his face up and tried his best to imitate Dad. "It seemed like a really good idea at the time. An' I'm awesome so it's aaaaaaaaaaall good."

"Oh," Aurore chewed on that thought for a few moments. "That's okay then," she decided. Because Desmond totally needed her approval of his existence.

Did not. "Duh it's okay," he said brashly. "'cause Dad's Dad an' Mom's super super strong an' I'm gonna be just like both of 'em when I grow up."

"I'm gonna be able to fly when I'm big," Aurore shared. Which was totally awesome, no matter what that stupid creepy kid said.

Hee. Cool. Possibly predictably, he doubled over snickering. Des cracked himself up.

"How'd I know you'd go for that joke?" Kennedy asked, shaking her head at her kid and his... sorta-sister? (Her kid. W. T. F. And WTF to you too, Boy Scout, with the freaking boatload of kids.) "You so have Boy Scout's sense of humor."
