Dorm lawn [early afternoon]

Juliet was happily sticking her foot into her mouth on a blanket as Anakin and her (younger, at least theoretically) brother Christopher raced around on the lawn. The little boy squealed loudly as Anakin caught him and tossed him into the air, using the Force to make him hover for a moment.

"Again!"

"Say please," Anakin replied.

"Peas!"

"Close enough."

And being on campus meant that Anakin had put his lightsaber into the weapons locker. And he won't kill people in front of his kids! Come play Jedi tag!

Who said anything about rage? Anakin tilted his head curiously. I have no issues with rage. Do you? You must, to be so concerned about it.

She recovered, wee annoying Anakin said enigmatically. Eventually.

Did you try to protect her? Anakin asked.

Anakin knew people wanted to drop kick or smack him, but they wouldn't because he was a child and because his mother was so nice. So he enjoyed working that.

No, he said. I was far too young to play a part. Besides, it was her destiny, not mine. And it was very unpleasant -- for her, and everyone else involved.

Anakin snorted. Child, I've seen planets explode in front of me. You won't be able to get me to step back on this by being vague and smug.

Wee Anakin almost smiled. Almost. Imagine the darkest part of yourself pulled out and given its own life, he said. Then imagine having to fight it. And losing.

Anakin shrugged. You recover, he said. But I think there may have been some lingering effects on everyone involved. He paused for a moment, thinking, then added, And you have to kill her. Again. Can you do that?

Yes, Anakin sent back firmly. If it's necessary. But you, little man, aren't going to exist in this world.

One world is enough for me. Well, for now, at least. He was only seven; give him a few years. I did not inherit my grandfather's desire to conquer them all...or even to simply watch them explode. Like you.
