Dorm lawn [early afternoon]

Juliet was happily sticking her foot into her mouth on a blanket as Anakin and her (younger, at least theoretically) brother Christopher raced around on the lawn. The little boy squealed loudly as Anakin caught him and tossed him into the air, using the Force to make him hover for a moment.

"Again!"

"Say please," Anakin replied.

"Peas!"

"Close enough."

And being on campus meant that Anakin had put his lightsaber into the weapons locker. And he won't kill people in front of his kids! Come play Jedi tag!

Jaina had tossed her rocks on the ground, and now she stared at one, making it rise into the air until it was at about her eye level. Then she flung out her hand, not touching the rock, but using the Force to throw it at the tree. It went pretty fast, but she missed the trunk. "Ooops," she said.

Lena pointed at her and said, "You're way faster! Like, zooooooooom!" She grinned at the other girl and said, "Did you always have the-- Force? Thingy?"

She raised her rock like Jaina did and let it just hover there. Mmmrrrr. Meeep! Like a spaceship!

"I'm a Jedi Knight!" Jaina said proudly. Well, she would be. "I was born with the Force but you gotta learn how to use it right."

"Like tele-kin-esis," Lena said carefully. "Maybe? Not to be bad with it?" Like throwing bottles at really creepy little boys who touched your brain?

Jaina winced a little, thinking of how Ben had Disapproved of how she used the Force to make her dad's business partners more agreeable. "Yeah, you gotta use it for good and justice or you fall into the Dark Side and turn really really bad."

"Dark Side?" Lena said, her voice dropping, and sounding worried. "What's the Dark Side?"

"The Force has a Light Side and a Dark Side," Jaina said, trying to sound Very Knowledgeable. "The Light Side is all about goodness and healing and wisdom and logic. But the Dark Side uses fear and anger and hatred. It's really bad."

"Goodness and healing and wisdom!" Lena was all for that. "Hatred is bad. I don't get angry much." She frowned. "'Cept stupid Anakin had that coming last night. I don't think tele-kin-esis has a Dark Side. Just not being bad. Maybe?"

"Fear is the path to the Dark Side," Jaina said solemnly. "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. And that leads to the Dark Side." No, she hadn't had that recited to her many times in the past at all, why do you ask?

"I don't hate everybody I get mad at," Lena said dubiously. Not that she got mad all that often. "But hate is bad. Bad! Everyone should be mellow and peace out."

She had no idea what that meant, but Trucker said it a lot.

"But if you let your anger guide your actions, the would be really bad," Jaina said. "But I don't think a little bit of anger is bad. Just a whole lot of it is bad. And everybody should be mellow, right. Especially stupid Anakin." Pause. "Not my grandpa. The creepy kid that got named after him."

"'Cause it spoils your aim!" Lena said. That made perfect sense. "And just a whole lot, yeah. And that kid is creepy. Brain-touching is bad unless you ask permission first!" She scowled. "Your grandpa's nice though. Nothing like stupid Anakin."

"My grandpa is awesome," Jaina agreed. "But he doesn't like my dad much. And Dad doesn't like him, either."

"I only gots one grandpa and he's okay. Daddy says he's uptight but he loves him anyway. And Grandpa thinks Mommy is awesome," Lena shared. "Family is weird hunh?"

Especially if you were related to Stupid Anakin. Poor Jaina.

"OK!" Jaina said cheerfully. She levitated a rock in front of her and flung it at the tree with the Force again. This time she hit the trunk squarely. "Yay!"
