The zrrt was a nice touch, actually. And Jono, his diminutive ego having been poked at with sticks, was going to actually rise to the occasion to shoot the balloon out of the air, leaving water and broken balloon bits raining down in its wake.

He didn't always have to incinerate things. His blasts could be purely concussive as well, after all.
