Magic Reserves, The Preserve, Wednesday Afternoon

The plastic-covered snacks were once again under umbrellas today as the Magic Reserves met outside. Next to the table was a very large tub, covered with a bright blue plastic tarp from T&C's.

"Kiss kiss!" Karla greeted everyone as they assembled around the table. "Today, we're going back to different ways magic can be used to dodge or shield against attacks. Hopefully most of us will never need to know ways to avoid missiles flying at our heads and other various body parts, but as long as the island keeps getting attacked, we need to devote time and energy to keeping our skills sharp." She grinned. "Though no one said we can't have fun doing it."

"And what better time to break out a bit of fun than now?" Merlin asked, blinding people with his Irish-ness smiling far too much for someone only wearing a pair of swim-trunks. "Tony? Would you do the honors of starting us off?"

"Absolutely," Tony said. He flipped the tarp off the tub and called a balloon to his hand. Which he promptly threw at Merlin.

"Hey!" Merlin, so very kindly, responded the same way. Though his balloon was aimed at Karla.

Karla squealed. "I thought we'd agreed to gang up on Tony!" she protested, snagging the balloon with Craft and tossing it back at Merlin. Another flew out of the tub and raced towards Tony. "Have at!" she called to the rest of them. "Try to keep as many balloons as possible from hitting you!"

Raven's finals were all done, so she was in a fairly good mood this afternoon. She wasn't so sure about a water balloon fight, though.

Kennedy's good mood had shot straight to awesome now that she was done with classes for the semester, and it probably didn't hurt that she was telling herself she actually had business reasons to be here today.

...so said business reasons entailed the prospect of getting to throw water balloons at people. Where was the bad there? It was all in the name of contributing to the island's defenses, okay? Nothing to do with flinging water at attractive people or anything. At all.

Alex had one more class to go and she was feeling pretty good about it. She helped herself to a snack, wondering what today's meeting was going to entail.

Jonothon was beginning to realize that this was a dangerous island to go around clad in leather on, come summertime.

Off came the jacket. And that was about it. He hated to think about the prospect of peeling his way out of wet leather trousers when this was all said and done.

Yay snacks! Dinah could see the end of the tunnel that was the end of Finals, and her birthday Friday. So, good time to take a break for a fight.

Water Balloon Fight!

All the balloons are filled with warm water, so no one should get too cold. Also, there's a stack of warmed towels tucked away under the table for afterwards.

Do your best to keep from getting soaked by water balloons!

Big surprise, Raven was not intending to throw any water balloons. And if any tried to throw any at her, she was prepared to use her Soul-Self to deflect them, or to teleport away.

Tara ducked under a tree with her pile of balloons. Her tactics in fights tended toward "avoid" mode, but she'd retaliate if someone hit her.

Kennedy rolled up her sleeves, took a stash of water balloons, and found herself a spot with a rock she could duck behind if she had to but a decent view of the area. She didn't plan on making much use of the rock; water balloon fights were fun.

Francine took one look at the water balloons, another at her pink tee shirt and jeans, and sighed. "Once, just once, couldn't you give me visions about when I'm gonna get wet?" She knocked sadly at her own skull, then shrugged and grabbed a handful of balloons.

Just because he was hell-bent on being cranky about it didn't mean that Jono wasn't going to at least make an effort, here. In one hand, there were a couple of balloons. His other hand was hovering an inch from his face.

Here, it was okay to use his powers in order to do away with incoming balloons, after all. And the target practise would probably do him some good.

She levitated about four at once, and then sent them in different directions, snickering.
