Third floor common room, Thursday morning

Leia didn't have any classes today, and she felt confident enough about her last class, Battles that Changed History, that she didn't need to study any more, so she was spending the morning lounging in the common room and staring at the TV in something akin to horror. She'd grown used to the primitive two-dimensional transmissions, but the channel she'd ended up on was featuring a show about two badly-dressed women and their more sensible older sister dealing with a magical sword they intended to give to an infant. The idea was completely insane.

At least Spooky Things was next. And that would be more fun to watch.

Bod's finals were over and done with so it left him with a lot of free time. Today, he decided to wander downstairs to see what else was going on. Upon finding someone in one of the common rooms, he stopped there.

"You look as if you've smelled something particularly bad," noted Bod, nodding at her in greeting. "Did someone cook something bad?"

"No," Leia said, tilting her head at the TV screen. "I'm just trying to figure this ridiculous television show out."

"What's wrong with it?" asked Bod, wandering further into the room so he could see what she was watching. "I've found most television is rather ridiculous in various ways."

"These women," Leia said, pointing at the screen, "have an admirable goal of fighting evil, but they're very impractical about it. They complain if it interferes with their social lives, and their end goal seems to be to give an infant a dangerous magic sword."

Noticing Bod, Leto nodded in greeting. "Good morning," he said.

"Hullo," Bod greeted, giving the other boy a nod in return. Apparently, just coming down a few floors meant he met several new people all in one day. "How are you this morning? Finished with your final examinations?"

Bod might not know Leto, but Leto at least recognised him as the Kate's date to the prom. Not that he was jealous. In fact, it was a good thing that Kate had other company as he would be leaving soon, but he wanted to make sure he was to be trusted.

"I have my last class on Friday," he replied. "I'm not sure we've been introduced. I'm Leto Atreides."

Chuck came into the common room after class, looking for a caffeine fix before he went to church. "Something traumatizing on TV?"

"Scantily-clad women fighting evil," Leia grinned at Chuck. "It's quite bizarre."

"And highly unrealistic," Chuck said. "Not that I'm complaining about half-naked women fighting evil, mind you."

"I don't think realism is a factor at all," Leia said, shaking her head. "And why does it not surprise me that you'd say that?"

"Hullo," Bod said to the boy he didn't recognize. Obviously, he needed to make a better effort to get out more and explore. He was missing a lot. "How are you this morning?"

"Well I'm officially done schoolwork for the rest of my life so today's been pretty good thus far," Chuck said. "And how are you?"

"I'm good, thank you. I'm not done with my studies by any stretch of the imagination but still good," he replied, nodding. "No plans to go to university?"

Leto wasn't entirely pleased with Chuck after he had heard about the drugging from Karla. It wasn't really something he'd care to discuss though, so he just nodded in greeting.

"Hello, Leto," Chuck said. "How have you been?"

"Well enough," he said. "And you?"

Leto didn't have any classes either but was more interested in finding something for breakfast than watching TV. Company wasn't a bad thing either, of course.

"Good morning," he said.

"Good morning," Leia said, giving Leto a smile. "If there's something you want to watch, just let me know. I'm just being confused by what's considered entertainment here."

"Oh, I gave up trying to understand that early on," he replied with a laugh. "You're brave to try and take on that challenge."

"I'm just trying to unwind," Leia said, abandoning trying to understand the show on the TV. "I only have one more final left -- Battles that Changed History -- and I'm not too worried about that one. How has your week been?"

Alex had one afternoon class left, so she decided she could spend the morning hanging out in the common room. She made a beeline for the coffee and happened to catch sight of what was on the television as she poured herself a cup.

"Anything worth watching?" That was as much of a good morning as you were going to get from Alex before the caffeine kicked in.

"Depends on your definition of worth watching," Leia said with a good-natured roll of her eyes. "I'm waiting for the show after this one, the one with the cute brothers."

"Good point," Alex said, grinning over the rim of her mug. "I think I've seen an episode or two of that show. It's supposed to be pretty good."

"I'm not big on ghost stories and the like," Leia admitted. "But it is nice to look at." What, she could be shallow.
