Fifth Floor Common Room; Sunday Morning [ 05/09 ].
Sleep? Who could possibly sleep at a time like this? Although Ariel was absolutely exhausted from yesterday, the seahorses in her stomach were stampeding about in excitement and so she didn't have much for sleeping. Even the thrill of sleeping in a human bed was enough to keep her up. So it was tired but still bouncing Ariel that had padded down to the common room that morning, eager to explore and rifle through the unbelievable amount of human artifacts at her disposal just down the hallway.
For a girl who didn't talk, she wasn't very quiet about the whole thing either. Cupboards banged, drawers slammed, utensils clattered as her eager hands and hungry eyes went through every single one and examined all the marvelous items. Dinglehoppers, a whole drawer of them! Gazoodzits, too, and flangongers, and here there were some plates! Plates! Ariel reveled in the new word as she took each one out, looked it over, turning it along its circumference. And then there were the boxes of things filled with other things, and gloopfezzits and, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Ariel stared in awe as she even found a thingamabob, unlike any of the twenty she had back home in her grotto, with a pretty red case filled with all sorts of other gadgets, like the little mini snepfitters and gormazers...
It was almost too much. Occasionally, Ariel had to force herself to stop, letting out little silent squees to release her excitement.
She'd probably be less excited once she'd gotten through all the cupboards and had to start putting all the stuff back.
[[ open common room is open, of course! ]]

And boggle.
"What are you doing?" she asked from the doorway.
no subject
She didn't know what it was but she knew one thing. It was amazing!
And, if the tongs weren't amazing enough, she gestured toward everything else...and it really was practically everything else...that she'd extracted from the drawers and cupboards with utter glee.
no subject
That was one overly excited person. Overly excited about tongs and... random crap, even.
So, Kate was just going to take a moment to raise an eyebrow, eyeing the girl and the mess around her, before asking, "Why?"
no subject
A better question, if you asked Ariel, would be why were all these fantastic treasures hidden away in all these drawers and cupboards in the first place?
no subject
Not that it was Kate's problem, anyway, really. She didn't even live on this floor.
no subject
Seriously! She picked up a gravy boat, showing it off in her palm. Was this not the most incredible thing ever? It wasn't even cracked!
no subject
The fact that the other girl didn't seem to be speaking, like, at all, hadn't quite registered yet. It was early; give her time.

Somebody was crazy.
"Whaaaaaaat are you doing?"?
no subject
Oh, and there was another one! Ariel grabbed it off the counter and offered it out in case the other girl wanted such a cute accessory for herself.
no subject
And proceeded to take the offered 'hat' and place it on her own head with a giggle.
"Gee, you don't talk much, do ya?"

She paused. Had she heard that somewhere before?
no subject
---oooooooh. Ariel pulled a whisk from the drawer next, holding it up to her face and practically staring at it crosseyed as she wondered what in the world such a funny looking thing could be used for.
no subject
That was possibly the most awful thing she had ever heard.

"Whoa. Where's the fire?"
It was safe to say Alex hadn't expected to see the common room turned upside down.

"Let me guess. You're one of the new kids?" It was just a guess. "I'm Alex. One of the seasoned veterans, you could say." She grinned. "Find anything interesting?" She figured as long as there were things to look at, why not join in?
no subject
And she knew there'd be more A names eventually! She liked Alex; she still thought she had the best name of her sisters, and Alex was better than her sister's names, too.
no subject
"Have you used one of those before?" Alex asked, gesturing to the whisk.
no subject
"Did you see the Cheerios in there anywhere?" She asked brightly.
no subject
She looked back at the other girl and shrugged. But now she really wanted to know what the Cheerios were.

And, really, honestly, not a whole lot of that was very helpful, but at least Ariel easily knew what box and breakfast were. And she could have sworn she saw one as described. She didn't remember the B looking exactly perky, but okay. Now where was it? While the other girl went for a bowl, Ariel searched around for what she thought was meant.
There it was! Proudly, she brandished the box (http://www.mrbreakfast.com/cereal_detail.asp?id=926).
What? It had a B on it!

Well, she could, and she planned to, but all in good time.
