2nd Floor Common Room, Wednesday Noonish

It should probably be noted that Hinata was not a particularly huge fan of carbonated beverages. She drank them now and again, however, and was well aware of the basics: they were better cold, you were not supposed to shake them, and if you did shake them, for the love of anything, do not open them immediately after.

... Unless you were doing it to prank someone. Hinata was not that sort.

She had never heard of ‘straws might cause the drink to explode’, however. Which was why she was entirely caught off guard when her innocent looking straw was dropped in to the bottled drink, Hinata had sitting on the coffee table, and turned her attention back to her book for all of a few seconds before... well, the drink was, for some unfathomable reason, bubbling up and spilling all over the table.

Her book went flying as she hurriedly picked up the bottle and carted it over to the sink, trying not to spill anything further as it continued to overflow and wondering why had no one ever told her that straws could do that?

She set the bottle down, her hands dripping, and made a face as she went to get paper towel to clean the mess up. The whole room smelled strongly of raspberries.

And the straw looked entirely too innocent just sitting in the still fizzing drink. Hinata gave it a dirty look and went to see about cleaning the table before it got sticky.

[*shifty eyes* ... I fully admit that this is method RP. My cubicle smells like raspberry white tea ginger ale right now, ugh. Open post is open with the caveat of potential SP due to work, la.]

Jonas hadn't yet visited the second floor common room since moving down there and all but the smell of...well, something sweet drew him in.

"Are you baking something?" Jonas asked, not knowing that drinks could explode either. It smelled rather nice, at least.

"I didn't know drinks could do that," Jonas said, wandering in. "Did you need any help cleaning up the spill?"

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't mind helping," Jonas said, padding over to the kitchen and retrieving some paper towels that he wet a bit before coming back over. "I hate when I make unexpected messes so I'll be glad to help. Your drink made quite the mess too."

"Is it the first time you've had that sort of drink?" Jonas asked, mopping up some of the spilled liquid gingerly. "Perhaps there was something unusual about it?"

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps." Not that Jonas knew one way or the other. "I don't have much experience with straws, I'm afraid. If it was the straw, I'm surprised at something so thin and light could cause such a mess."

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"And, saying that on this island, you might be right," he pointed out, grinning. "Straws could come to life at anytime, it seems."

"You could always try again with a new straw?" Jonas suggested, tossing his own soaked paper towels into the garbage cans. "An experiment, of a sort."

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know if I want to get messy either," Jonas said, laughing. "Maybe we could leave it a mystery for now? And neither of us have to risk another spill?"

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course," Jonas said, nodding and sliding into a seat. "Are you doing well besides the occasionally attacking drink?"

"I've gained a new roommate and a completely new room," he shared. "I actually live on this floor now with a girl named Asuna. She wasn't quite ready for a boy as a roommate when we met."

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"I promise," Jonas assured her. "I think she's done all right with the idea of living with another boy so far. And I think I'm fairly non threatening and...dull at times so it shouldn't be a problem."

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," Jonas said, blushing just slightly. He ducked his head and laughed. "I've found there are several benefits in being quiet too. It's easy to be more observant and I tend to learn better by watching something and not hearing it said to me."

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-05-19 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, definitely," Jonas said, nodding. "It's easier to answer those questions on your own time considering the answers might not always be easy."

[Have fun!]
