2nd Floor Common Room, Wednesday Noonish
It should probably be noted that Hinata was not a particularly huge fan of carbonated beverages. She drank them now and again, however, and was well aware of the basics: they were better cold, you were not supposed to shake them, and if you did shake them, for the love of anything, do not open them immediately after.
... Unless you were doing it to prank someone. Hinata was not that sort.
She had never heard of ‘straws might cause the drink to explode’, however. Which was why she was entirely caught off guard when her innocent looking straw was dropped in to the bottled drink, Hinata had sitting on the coffee table, and turned her attention back to her book for all of a few seconds before... well, the drink was, for some unfathomable reason, bubbling up and spilling all over the table.
Her book went flying as she hurriedly picked up the bottle and carted it over to the sink, trying not to spill anything further as it continued to overflow and wondering why had no one ever told her that straws could do that?
She set the bottle down, her hands dripping, and made a face as she went to get paper towel to clean the mess up. The whole room smelled strongly of raspberries.
And the straw looked entirely too innocent just sitting in the still fizzing drink. Hinata gave it a dirty look and went to see about cleaning the table before it got sticky.
[*shifty eyes* ... I fully admit that this is method RP. My cubicle smells like raspberry white tea ginger ale right now, ugh. Open post is open with the caveat of potential SP due to work, la.]

"Are you baking something?" Jonas asked, not knowing that drinks could explode either. It smelled rather nice, at least.

She really did.
"There was an accident," her drink was possessed, "and my drink overflowed."

But she wouldn't directly ask, no. She could do it on her own.
"It's in the sink right now," Hinata added. "It w-was fine until I put a straw in it."

"Thank you," she said, pinking up slightly. "I wish I understood why it did. It's never done this before."

"I've had it before with no accidents," Hinata said, with a sigh as she stood to take her sodden paper towels over to the trash. "I wonder if it w-was the straw? It came from a new package..."

Getting more paper towel, she made her way back to the table. "Things are not what they seem?" Hinata asked, amused. "Perhaps that is it. The straw was more dangerous than it looked."
... Or something.

She gave her sibling a searching glance. "How have you been settling in?"
