Fifth Floor Common Room - Saturday Evening

Tim ordered pizza for himself and got a few extra boxes, since he was starting to get a feel of how things worked around here. He turned on the TV and found the Gotham Knights game on one of the high-numbered digital channels. Third inning and the Metropolis Meteors were already leading by four runs. Tim picked up a slice of artichoke heart and Canadian bacon pizza and settled in to watch his team get their asses kicked.

Peter blinked at the TV after he entered. He tilted his head to one side.

"Wow, those teams are new," he said, shaking his head a little after a moment.

"Had dinner with Walter last night," Peter said. "He has interesting ideas about family bonding time. And roommate etiquette."

He didn't even ask before reaching to grab himself a slice of pizza. "And in deference to your appetite, I won't share most of it."

"The family bonding," Peter said. "He was suggesting that I get a blood sample from Cara to test how her biology might differ from ours. Without her knowing."

"Whatever his idea is, it's a bad idea," Peter said. "Have you met Cara? She's definitely the kind of girl that can kick your ass six different ways without breaking a sweat."

"That too," Peter agreed with a nod. He chewed a bit of pizza and sighed. "You know, he wants me to move in with him."

Peter thought about it for a moment, then took another bite so he wouldn't have to answer right away.

"I think he'd like that."

It wasn't that he wanted to, but there was something about Walter taking all this interest in him that felt... good. Something he'd missed the past four-plus years.

"Did I mention the part where he'd been gone for four years before I saw him here?" Peter said. "There's a lot more to it, but this isn't just a happy family reunion."

Peter chuckled. "Thanks, Freud," he said. He looked over at Tim's pizza. "Artichoke hearts? Interesting choice."

Yes, he was changing subjects.
