Dinosaur Campfire [suppertime]

Rilla had helped her siblings and the manse children gather firewood for bonfires in Rainbow Valley more times than she could count, and so she knew she had the proper mix of kindling to larger logs.

There was only one little problem--as the youngest, she'd never been permitted to light the fire, and the sausages she'd brought out with her weren't going to cook themselves.

How irritating.

She said down on a nearby log with a little flounce of her skirts, hoping for one of the older students to come along and help a wee freshman out.

"I might have some back at my cabin?" he offered. If only he could hide his utility belt under his clothes somehow, he wouldn't have these kinds of problems. "Are you gonna make a fire?"

Okay, she was really cute too, and Jason thought that being in an all-girl cabin wouldn't be so bad if they were all girls like this one. "I can go find matches if you want," he said. "I'd offer to rub two sticks together for you, but I think you'd starve before I got anywhere."

That was all the incentive Jason needed to run back to the Harpy cabin (and no, he was not offended by that cabin name, not at all, really) and look around for some matches. He found a small box of them, and when he got back to Rilla, he waved the box a little so she'd see he was successful. "You know, out of everything I thought would happen while we were stuck out here, I didn't think people would be so eager to cook over a campfire," he admitted when he'd reached her again.

"Really?" Jason said, kneeling down to get the fire lit. Or, to at least try to make fire. "So, I guess the whole cabin thing isn't so bad for you, huh?"
