It was hot. Hot and bright and that was something that Bod wasn't really used to quite yet. He was from a place where gray, rainy and cool seemed to be the norm so having it be this hot so early into the summer months was a bit odd. Staying inside his cabin might have been wiser but he was still feeling a little cooped up after all the baggage and decided braving the sun and heat couldn't be that hard.

So, he was out there, not bothering to light a fire due to the heat and wondering if he should have put sunscreen on before coming out. It was just his face and arms that were exposed (and boy, they were rather pale) and he didn't plan on staying outside for hours but he could already feel the heat beating down on his skin. It felt nice but it didn't quite warm her through and through.

There was a book near his hip that he wasn't reading yet and a bottle of water in his hand. For now, he was just relaxing against a log, letting the sun do what it wanted and letting his mind wander off in all sorts of directions.

And there was an Ino plopping herself down next to him in rather short shorts and a tank top in pale summery pink.

"Thinking deep thoughts?" she teased him.

"I don't know exactly how deep they are," Bod said, turning and giving Ino a warm smile. "I'm more thinking of how long it's going to take until I'm the color of a tomato."

[intraspective]

She grinned at him and toyed with a twig that had probably been meant for the fire, last time it had been lit, and never made it there.

"Mmmm," Ino considered him. "Five minutes. Maaaybe ten, if you're lucky."

"You've such confidence in my abilities, Ino," teased Bod, laughing. "I bet I could make it fifteen minutes. Maybe even a half an hour."

[intraspective]

"Look how pale you are!" she defended herself, giggling as she tried to poke him in the arm. "You almost glow, you're so white."

Out. About. Baggage-free, which was a bonus, and with cozy little cabins around and a firepit and the whole thing... Warren thought the setup around here was actually kind of quaint, now that it had an opportunity to grow on him somewhat.

It helped that he was finished molting for the season, yes.

"Yeah," he decided as he picked his way toward a place to sit down, "I think I can handle spending the summer this way."

"As long as it doesn't get too much hotter, I think I can agree," Bod said, giving Warren a nod. "Too much hotter and I'll be complaining about wanting winter to return."

"See, I don't mind winter too much," Warren decided, "except for obvious wind-chill issues. But where the temperature is right now? I can live with this. And if it gets much worse... Well, we are living on an island, right?"

"I'm nearly see through," sad Bod, holding up one arm. "I think if it gets too much worse, I might spontaneously catch on fire."

"I'd be sure to put you out," Warren laughed, shaking his head a little. "I'm not really much better, anyhow. You don't tan too much when you live in a long coat."

[intraspective]

"Hey you," she said, with a bright little grin. "I have to sadly inform you that your attempts to turn me over to the dark side AKA where the coffee lives, has failed."

The drink hadn't been bad, but she still didn't have much of an urge to go and buy more.

"See, that's a shame," Warren replied, laughing softly. "I guess next time, I'll have to attempt with a latte or something, instead."

Accursed cherry-flavoring.

"Or, you know, just stick with hot chocolate. Which is really not much of a today-drink, I don't think."

[intraspective]

"Not unless you're inside with air-conditioning," she replied lightly. "Because air-conditioning is always too cold so hot drinks are a win."

She was just going to enjoy her outdoors heat, though. Ino raised her face to the sun and hummed blissfully.

"Iced tea, for today?"

"Iced tea for today," Warren agreed. "With maybe a bit of lemon in it."

There was a pause, and then a little smirk. "I'm guessing here is where you want me to just fly off and go get it, huh?"

Kitty was more than happy to come outside for a while and enjoy the weather. Which might have been evident in her greeting of, "It's summer!"

"Is that official?" Bod asked, curious. "Or just because of the warm weather?"

"I may be a day early, but Memorial Day like officially starts barbecue season, and therefore, it is summer," she explained, finding a seat. "Also the weather. That helps."

"That's good information to know," Bod decided, nodding. "I'm guessing you like this particular season."

"Traditionally it means school is out," Kitty said. "Which, okay, doesn't really work here with the classes we have to go to and everything but that is not the point."

[intraspective]

Ino laughed.

"Too bad it can't be like this forever!"

"Well, when I get my first sunburn I might be totally sick of it, but for now, I completely agree with you," Kitty grinned.

[intraspective]

"That's what sunblock is for," she pointed out practically. "And no way can you get sick of the heat. Never."

"It's summer," Warren agreed, shooting a smile in Kitty's direction. "Complete with hot weather and... Well, complete with hot weather!"

Warren had minimal experience with actually getting to enjoy his summers, sadly.

"Which leads to the beach and barbecues and pool parties," Kitty finished. "There's no bad here." Again, till that first sunburn when she wouldn't stop complaining.

"Pool parties," Warren echoed, almost wistfully. "Sounds like a good time. And there is a pool in the dorms, right? So we very well could, but since we're on and island and all, I think a beach party is in order instead, don't you? It would be a shame to waste it."
