Main Campfire [Sunday Evening]

Bobby had spent most of the afternoon moving his stuff back to the dorms, but with that taken care of, he was just gonna relax and enjoy the last night of campfire-junk-food goodness... at least until the next session started up, anyway.

There were hotdogs (he'd even gone and found a package of vegetarian ones), s'mores fixings, sodas, chips, and yes, of course, Twinkies. The roasting experiment had worked so well last time that he was going to repeat it.

"You're having a feast, aren't you?" Bod asked, wandering over after clearing out the last of his belongings from his cabin. "That's a lot of food."

[longislandiceme]

"Well," Bobby tapped his chin, pretending to think about it. "I could probably be persuaded to share."

"I'll warn you, my skills of persuasion are not extraordinary," he said, laughing a bit. "It might be easier to just share without trying to get me to persuade you."

[longislandiceme]

"Easier for you, maybe," Bobby observed. "But then, where's the fun in that for me?"

"There's no fun in being a kind person who shares with his fellow students?" Bod tried, eyes widening a bit. "Surely there's some sort of fun in that? The fun of being...polite?"

Well, Bod had warned Bobby that his skills of persuasion were not good.

[longislandiceme]

"...The fun of being polite," Bobby repeated, a little incredulously as he tried to keep a straight face.

It didn't really last, because after a few moments a snicker managed to escape, and he grinned at Bod. "Well, when you put it that way, how could I resist, really?"

"You can't which is exactly what I'm amazing at persuading people to give me things," he said, aiming his sarcasm at himself. "Perhaps I was hoping I'd appeal to your nice guy side."

[longislandiceme]

"Yeah, yeah," Bobby tossed a bag of marshmallows at Bod. "Just so long as you don't spread it around that I have a nice guy side."

Bobby, anyone who'd talked to you for more than five minutes at a time knew you had a nice guy side.

"It'll be our secret, I promise," he said, catching those marshmallows and taking a seat on one of those logs. "How are you, Bobby? Ready to leave the cabins?"

"Pretty much," Bobby admitted. "I mean, this stuff," he gestured to the campfire, and the junk food he'd stockpiled, "isn't so bad. But I miss my room. With the walls that go all the way to the ceiling, and the actual door, and the fact that I only have to share it with one other person."

"It will be nice to have a little more privacy tomorrow than we've had the previous few weeks," agreed Bod with a nod before he ate a marshmallow. He'd gotten very used to that particular sweet over the last few weeks.

"I suppose you'll just have to hope that Kate's time in the cabins hasn't changed her into a bad roommate," he said teasingly.

"Who says she wasn't one before?" You know, besides the fact that he'd lived with her for a year and all.

[therewaslife]

"Was she?" Bod asked, completely willing to hear gossip on poor Kate. She was evil, he could be evil too.

[longislandiceme]

"Dirty socks," Bobby declared solemnly. "Everywhere. I'm pretty sure some of them are showing signs of life. And not just on that one day when clothes were chasing people around."

[therewaslife]

"Interesting," Bod said, nodding slowly. "I could see it. She's awfully disorganized and cluttered. Have you tried to speak with her about this?"

[longislandiceme]

"She just yells and then throws my math textbooks at me," Bobby said sadly.

[therewaslife]

"And yet, you continue to live with her," Bod said, frowning. "That's a little ridiculous, isn't it?"

[longislandiceme]

"The office told me there were no empty rooms," Bobby said. That was untrue on two levels: first, he'd never actually asked, and secondly, there were totally unoccupied rooms in the dorms.

"Hmm." Bod tapped his knee thoughtfully. "She hasn't thrown anything at me yet. Should I be expecting it?"

[longislandiceme]

"Yes and no," Bobby said helpfully. "I mean, it'll probably happen. But it will come out of nowhere. One minute you're getting along fine, next? BAM! Book to the head." Bobby reached up to rub at his head exaggeratedly, as if remembering a past pain.

[therewaslife]

"She has smacked my shoulder before," he shared, nodding. "Perhaps that's a precursor to book throwing? I might need to rig up some sort of shield now."

[longislandiceme]

"That might be wise," Bobby nodded in agreement. "Maybe an encyclopedia."

[therewaslife]

"She might wonder why I was carrying an encyclopedia around with me though," he mused thoughtfully. "And I'm not a good liar, especially when it comes to her."

[longislandiceme]

"Well, you could always practice your lying skills," Bobby pointed out.

[therewaslife]

"I don't know if you should be encouraging me to lie to Kate."

For some reason, Bod thought that might end badly for them both.
