Behind the Dorms, Tuesday After Workshops
The usual supply of cookies and pastries was set out for everybody today, but apparently that wasn't enough for Kennedy, who while waiting for the group to show up kept heading back to the table to snag another cookie or muffin every few minutes despite the entire bag of Mooby Land burgers she was clutching (and constantly eating from, yes).
"Hey, everybody," she said once it was about time to start. "So, uh." She kept rolling her shoulders as she talked. No reason. "It's kinda been brought to my attention that sometimes? We're gonna end up dealing with something that might be able to hit us, but that we can't actually hit."
Stupid gholam. She was still mad about that.
"So... alternate strategies might be a good thing to think about. How are you gonna slow something like that down or stop it?" Hey, it was a good question; she didn't have an answer.
"In the past, before my time here, people used the resources that they had handy to build a barricade in order to protect the dorms from an invasion of enemies they couldn't easily kill," Zack said, smiling lopsidedly. And maybe hoarding a cookie or five to himself, too. This topic was maybe a touch out of his element. Any enemy that he couldn't hit was probably somebody else's problem, back home. "And in some cases, that might be your only option. Just... Putting up a wall and..." He wrinkled his nose. 'Waiting it out' wasn't the phrase he was looking for, here. "Guarding... things."
Eloquent, Zack.
"Though in a situation like that, it's usually a good idea to have plenty of guns," Jak added, demonstrating how highly he thought of this particular lesson. "And, uh... Maybe some explosives." Maybe some explosives: ladies and gents, your third reserves leader. "Just stack them up or fly them somewhere and... let the debris come down."
Zack tried not to gape at Jak with his jaw hanging too slack at that suggestion before he regained his composure once again.
"Uh... Right! So... There are the dorms! And we don't really have an emergency or anything going on right now, so we aren't going to haul furniture out from inside or anything like that in order to build a proper barricade. But there are a few picnic tables and things, right? And we brought some empty garbage bins and crates and things, so..." Zack shrugged. Between the three of them, they probably weren't going to win any awards for most confidence-inspiring speech ever delivered to a Reserves group, were they? "Try to put something together, I guess. Work with what you've got at your disposal to build a little wall. Just... maybe without the explosives, today. Please."

Without explosives.

Or guns.
But he was there.
Re: The leaders!
And maybe, briefly, contemplating what if any value greasy empty pizza boxes would contribute to a barricade. Probably not much unless they were dealing with something allergic to greasy cardboard, but in a dorm full of teenagers, they probably had enough empty pizza boxes to build, like, three barricades.
