Fourth Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening

It shouldn't have been a surprise that Self-Defense class today was going to be pretty rough, and just to be clear, it wasn't a surprise. After a few hours, the ouch factor had definitely set in, and that called for ice packs and a whole lot of not moving.

That was Kennedy's opinion on the matter, and it happened to be Dru's as well, which meant there were two worn out, sore, and mostly inert girls occupying the common room, ice packs and all. Kennedy'd insisted on letting Dru have the couch, and was sprawled out on the floor instead, eyes half closed.

"You know? I'm really gonna miss that class."

It might have been arguable grounds for insanity.

"I'm fairly certain that movies with explosions in can totally be arranged." A pause. "And they're probably pretty popular among this particular group of students."

Mostly because they were all teenagers, and teenagers thought that explosions were awesome, granted.

Scully toasted Warren with her water bottle, smile glimmering. "Second floor it is, then. Cake, and popcorn for throwing. And knowing we survived."

"Tomorrow, after we're certain that everybody has managed to survive the first half of the summer?"

Surviving was a great achievement!

"The cake will help us fortify our minds and bodies for the long, difficult struggle that we have ahead of us."

The second half of the summer.

It was! They weren't crying for their mommies or their FBI partners or anything!

"Because in the long trek toward mastering the insanity, what you need is cake," Scully said very seriously. "And I heard there will be new people arriving... soonish. We need cake to deal with them being as clueless as we were."

"And wow, is everyone who comes here ever completely clueless," Warren agreed.

Well, he'd been. It had taken him weeks to relax enough to take off his coat and let people see his wings, around here.

Scully shook her head in disbelief, remembering her arrival. "I thought I'd seen stuff. I thought I knew stuff... there is no way to prepare anyone for this place completely." She smirked a little. "Someday that will be funny. It's not quite there yet."

"It's making a spirited attempt, though," Warren mused, chuckling lightly. "Of course, I've got the full Spring semester behind me, so the head start might be what makes all the difference."

"Time... and mileage," Scully said thoughtfully, leaning back, eyes trying to drift shut. "Mmmph. And you still like it here, after that much time?" she checked. "I'm not going to regret staying even longer?"

"Well, I haven't had any raging urges to go flying back home," Warren noted. "But I'm kind of... an extenuating circumstance."

Which was pretty much all that he was offering up on that topic, yes.

"It isn't so bad here, once you settle in. You might not ever really get used to the stranger parts, but at least you know you can expect them, now and then."

Scully nodded, then smiled wryly. "I just hope I don't become an irresponsible idiot again any time soon. Although parts of it were... fun." Heh.

"Well, it isn't like there's a shortage of other ways it can mess with you," Warren pointed out. "And if there were fun parts, then hey, it wasn't a total loss, right?"
