The clouds were easing the heat a bit and, without the sun hanging high in the sky, Bod figured that spending some time outside wouldn't give way to an inevitable sunburn. He thought about walking into town but eventually decided that that could wait till later.

Instead, he veered off and clambered onto the deck, sliding into one of the empty loungers and actually choosing to be lazy for once. Usually, laziness was a side effect of having nothing to do or trying to avoid something else but today, he just wanted to relax. He found himself caught up in the movements of the clouds, dark and opaque as they were. He wondered what the sky looked like behind them, if the peeks of blue would stay long and where those clouds would go after moving off.

It wasn't heavy contemplation but he was enthralled by it anyway.

[Deck is open. I like clouds.]

Bod thought about it for a moment. "I don't think so. At least, I hope not, but if it does, who's going to punish us? We've no supervision right now."

"But we'll know," she said knowingly. Yep, silly mood.

"It sounds as if this is going to bother you a lot," said Bod, trying not to laugh. "Feel free to blame me, if that's the case. You can say I forced you into productivity."

"That might work. Because like, if I'm really lazy, I'm not going to put up a fight, right?" she reasoned.

"Exactly. And I've been told by reliable sources that I'm rather annoying anyway so you could say I annoyed you into it," Bod told her. "It's a good plan, if I may say so."

"It is. Though I so far disagree on the annoying thing, since you like totally got me lazy here in the first place," she pointed out.

"Really, I think you were an easy one to teach," he replied, smiling again. "You were willing to learn so I didn't have to do much to annoy you into it. Trust me though, I can be quite annoying."

"Why, you don't do like the 'I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you' thing, do you?" Kitty was an only child. That did not mean she'd never experienced that annoyance before.

For a second, Bod didn't respond because he was too busy wondering if he could get away with that. Kate would hate it, at the very least.

"No, I don't do that," he finally said, giving his head a shake. "I'm just weird. Strange. So I've been told. And I ask a lot of questions."

"What's wrong with weird and strange?" Said the mutant.

"Nothing at all," he replied quickly, shaking his head. "Nothing at all. And the person who tells me that, she doesn't mind either. She uses it to tease me."

"Oh, so it's not really annoying. Well, that's false advertising," she decided.

"Perhaps you just haven't experienced me in true annoying form," Bod told her, half smiling. "Perhaps I'm just being nice because I'm feeling lazy."

Kitty considered this, wondering just how annoying someone would have to be to actually tell people they were. "Okay, let's stick with lazy for now then," she decided.

"I think that's a well chosen option," he said, nodding and turning his eyes back up to the clouds. "Do you think it'll rain? I haven't seen it rain here in awhile."

"I'd say that rain is forbidden in summer, but um, I'd like rather not die in the heat, so I'm okay with some rain," she admitted. "But if it just makes it feel hotter, Mother Nature and I are going to have to have a talk."

"A talk?" Bod repeated, laughing quietly. "Do you think she'll listen?"

"Not even a little bit, but I have friends in high places." Sort of. Did instructors at a school she didn't go to anymore count?

"What about snow?" Bod asked, looking over at her. "Not during the summer, of course, but does snow warrant a chat with Mother Nature?"

"Snow during snow-appropriate months is totally cool. And expected, or I'd start to think something was wrong," she admitted.

"And you do know that strange things happen here, right?" Bod checked. "Snow could actually happen tomorrow on this island."

"Yeah, I do, but I'm really hoping that doesn't mean it's actually like going to happen," she said worriedly.

"Hopefully, we haven't jinxed us," Bod said, amused. "I think we'd get glared at for several days if that happened."
