Second Floor Common Room [Friday evening]

Katniss and Rue had, on the floor before them, a truly bizarre assortment of food: several different kinds of fruit, a couple loaves of bread, a box of Twinkies (she had to prove they were real), and as much candy as Katniss had been able to carry.

"Even I haven't been able to try all of these," Katniss admitted, tentatively pulling a Twizzler.

"Oh, we grew the food in District 11," Rue said earnestly. "We just couldn't eat it."

Melissa looked appalled. "Why on Earth not?"

The Scully temper usually came out in yelling in their dad and brother; in Dana, it went very cold and quiet until she was pushed past her limit.

In Melissa, it came out in stomping back into the kitchen, hands clenching and unclenching, then ladling up another helping of spaghetti, and getting a carton of ice cream out of the freezer, and a spoon. Then stomping back.

"Those pigs. Here. Have more food. Eat as much as you want. They can't stop you now."

Rue smiled and dug into the pasta first. She didn't want to get sick and waste anything.
