Danger Shop, After Classes
Once again, it was a Danger Shop day for those who were gathering for the reserves. Reservists would probably notice that they were down to two leaders once again this week, but it would appear that they had swapped out the pretty one for the one with the facial hair and the floppy ears. Zack, for his part, just seemed pleased to be in the company of people at all. Which was nothing new, because, seriously. It was Zack. And being happy to be in the company of other people totally beat out the urge to giggle like an idiot after hearing that their third leader had been turned into a wee bitty hedgehog.
The other thing that they would notice was that the layout didn't really seem to be like anything on the island. Through the doors of the Danger Shop, they would be faced with a large body of deep, murky water, crisscrossed with wooden-plank walkways that seemed to be in a horrible state of disrepair. That fact didn't seem to bother Zack, either.
"Hey, guys! We're doing exercises in balance and speed and surefootedness today!" Zack paused, mouthing 'surefootedness' to himself for a moment as if trying to figure out if that was even really a word. "... Yeah! So! We've got these walkways and stuff, and over at the end of the walkway, which is kind of a maze on its own, is our cookie table!"
Yes. Horror of horror, they were making people earn their cookies today.
"So the point is to get to the other side of the walkways and eat Zack's cookies," said Jak, completely redundantly. There was a short pause, as he glanced around the group, and then promptly realised that he was saying things that were a little redundant, and it would be best if he turned to his own niche of reserve leadering to further fill up the silence. "And try not to fall off and drown," he said, smoothly, "Or die horribly some other way." By... snagging their feet on a loose screw or something.
He shot Zack a quick look, as if waiting for some fountain of wisdom to spill out (or, knowing Jak, just plain 'okay, are we done now?'). "...First one there," he added, awkwardly, "Gets all the best cookies." Beat. "Now what are you waiting for?"
[OCDcoming up and open to all!]
