Danger Shop, After Classes
Once again, it was a Danger Shop day for those who were gathering for the reserves. Reservists would probably notice that they were down to two leaders once again this week, but it would appear that they had swapped out the pretty one for the one with the facial hair and the floppy ears. Zack, for his part, just seemed pleased to be in the company of people at all. Which was nothing new, because, seriously. It was Zack. And being happy to be in the company of other people totally beat out the urge to giggle like an idiot after hearing that their third leader had been turned into a wee bitty hedgehog.
The other thing that they would notice was that the layout didn't really seem to be like anything on the island. Through the doors of the Danger Shop, they would be faced with a large body of deep, murky water, crisscrossed with wooden-plank walkways that seemed to be in a horrible state of disrepair. That fact didn't seem to bother Zack, either.
"Hey, guys! We're doing exercises in balance and speed and surefootedness today!" Zack paused, mouthing 'surefootedness' to himself for a moment as if trying to figure out if that was even really a word. "... Yeah! So! We've got these walkways and stuff, and over at the end of the walkway, which is kind of a maze on its own, is our cookie table!"
Yes. Horror of horror, they were making people earn their cookies today.
"So the point is to get to the other side of the walkways and eat Zack's cookies," said Jak, completely redundantly. There was a short pause, as he glanced around the group, and then promptly realised that he was saying things that were a little redundant, and it would be best if he turned to his own niche of reserve leadering to further fill up the silence. "And try not to fall off and drown," he said, smoothly, "Or die horribly some other way." By... snagging their feet on a loose screw or something.
He shot Zack a quick look, as if waiting for some fountain of wisdom to spill out (or, knowing Jak, just plain 'okay, are we done now?'). "...First one there," he added, awkwardly, "Gets all the best cookies." Beat. "Now what are you waiting for?"

But...cookies.

Walk the Walkways
Re: Walk the Walkways
There was only one way then, taking a deep breath Asuna let out a shout and ran.
Re: Walk the Walkways
But still, she stood for longer than would seem necessary at the beginning of the course. That water was very murky. Who knew what might be in there?
STOP! NINJATIME!
Talk to the Leaders!
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
You better believe that he had a cookie stash of his own in his pocket, so that he wouldn't miss out on any of the good ones if he politely waited for everyone else to go first.
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
He also remembered the running-over-walkways part, but. Yes.
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
"Th-this is Kennedy," she explained softly. "She, uh. I promised I'd take her to watch even if she can't play today."
The hedgehog seemed indignant it was being called "play."
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
Jak, two things: one, there shouldn't be a question mark there. Two, it was Tara. She wasn't.
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
Kennedy, meanwhile, seemed to be intent on jumping in and proving hedgehogs could swim. Tara gripped her tighter. "D'you think she'd listen if we told her she's not allowed to jump in on her own?"
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
She gave the tiny animal a doubtful look. "I -- I don't think that's the right water to use to find out whether she can or not."

"What was going on last week?"

It'd taken him a while, but he'd caught on to the idea that it probably wasn't a good thing to elaborate about that to Tara.
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
"... and that's good?" she asked, not able to keep a dubious note out of her tone.
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
Realising he was growling in front of Tara, Jak backed off a little. "Anyway, it's fine. It'll be quiet for a couple of days, probably."
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
"Good luck?" she tried feebly. "I think Kennedy wants to watch people walk the path, so, uh..."
Not awkward at all.
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
Re: Talk to the Leaders!
She couldn't resist. She waved Kennedy's tiny paw at him. "Later," she said.
The hedgehog looked like she wanted to facepalm.
OOC!

Re: OOC!
No idea why.
