Luke, naturally, didn't mind this cabin thing too much. Sure, he had been enjoying only have to share a living space with one other person, but cabin living hadn't been that difficult to re-adjust himself to. At least the cabin here wasn't filled with thieves and emo people like Hermes cabin was back at Camp Half-Blood.

He also liked being able to sit around a camp fire and light marshmallows on fire. That was something the dorms lacked. Weird how you miss stupid things like that.

Kyle sat down, not the kind to ask if he could first. "You're not dead, maimed or missing," he noted of his little sibling. "You're doing pretty good for a new guy."

Luke smirked. "Takes more than some dead people walking around to scare me off."

"What if they wanted to eat you?" Hey. These were important things to know.

"What, like zombies?" Luke asked. "I think I'd be able to handle that. You just chop off their heads, right?"

"Yeah, like zombies." He liked how Luke seemed to take it all in his stride. "If you can't take the whole head off, you can make the brain mush and that'll do the trick too. I thought you said you were from New York, but the weird doesn't seem to bother you."

"Where I'm from is pretty weird in itself," Luke explained. "There's no zombies, but there are other monsters I have to deal with. I actually get attacked less here."

Kyle smiled at that. "We've got that in common. Not a bad place for a working vacation, is it?"

"It's pretty cool. Definitely not boring, which is nice. I have a short attention span." Which wasn't exactly his fault. "So what's attacking you back home?"

"Sentient machines hell-bent on wiping out all humans," he said, then clarified with a shrug. "Monsters. Are your monsters anything I'd recognize?" he asked, knowing he probably wouldn't.

"Depends how knowledgeable you are in Greek mythology," Luke said. "The minotaur, the hydra, hellhounds. Things like that."

Kyle shook his head. "I don't know those, but it sounds like you have your hands full. Why here? Expecting them to show up or here to get away from them?"

Katniss, equally, didn't mind the cabins terribly at all. It was still more privacy and space than what she'd been used to, and it was practically luxury after being in the arena.

She was drawn out to the fire, curious. "You always seem to have the most interesting food, Luke," she observed as she wandered over. "What are those you're toasting?"

"Ooh, marshmallows!"

That was enough to distract Alex from her original destination. Really, it didn't take much. "Also, hi." She really wished she had graham crackers on her.

Kyle watched the new girl for a few moments. "You're in Professor Skywalker's class," he remarked.

"Hey Alex. What's new?"

Katniss raised an eyebrow at him and replied, "Yes. You're observant."

"Hey Kyle! Eh, nothing too exciting at the moment." Aside from almost setting the Magic Box on fire yesterday, but she wasn't about to admit that out loud. "What about you? What have you been up to lately?"

Yes, he was, but had a bad habit of stating the obvious sometimes. "I'm Kyle Reese."

"Just classes," he shrugged, which wasn't entirely the truth, but good enough for conversation. "What are you taking this term?"

"Katniss Everdeen," she replied after a moment's pause. "What was your cover story for class today?"

"Farmer from some planet starting with K looking for work. I said I was bad at everything and kept getting fired. You?"

"I've got Home Ec with Aquaman, which is kind of a crazy class but in a good way," Alex said. She was enjoying it, crazy or not. "Practical Crisis Problem Solving with the Doctor. It's proven to be quite interesting."

She may have been referring to the class and the teacher with that last comment. "And I've got Carpe Diem with Drake Démon. That's been a good class so far, making the best of life and all that jazz." Definitely something to aspire to, she supposed. "What have you got?"

She nodded slowly, almost smiling. "I was eloping. My intended was going to meet me on Naboo," she said, rolling her eyes. "Figured it was stupid enough that I might be believed."

"Yep," she said, looking a bit proud of that. "Guess I was insipid enough. Do you like the class so far?"
