Starburst Campfire [Saturday, Late Morning]

Chuck had acquired a talky ten-year-old, somewhere between the time he went to bed on Thursday night, and been woken up on Friday morning with an unending stream of Japanese chatter in his ear.

... And no Gameboy.

They might not understand each other on a linguistic level, but they did have some very similar tastes in food and entertainment, at least. So this wasn't so bad, and they were out near the campfire (unlit, because he didn't trust himself near open flames, let alone himself with a little kid), entertaining him throwing stones to try and knock targets, empty cans and the like, off the logs around the fire pit while trying to encourage him to eat the odd slice of cold pizza for breakfast between rounds.

Lindsay was once again sitting on the front steps of her own cabin when she spotted people at one of the other campfires. She, along with her human jacket, wandered over.

"Hey Chuck," she greeted, spotting the ten-year-old. "You too, huh?"

She assumed he knew what she meant.

"Definitely one of those weekends," Lindsay agreed. "Doing as alright as I can. Um, anyway, this is uh...do you even have a name?"

"Call me whatever you want since I'm owned by you. Well, technically, I'm owned by your dad."

"Right. Uh, This is usually my army jacket," she told Chuck.

The jacket waved. "Hey."

"Sure," the jacket replied with a shrug.

"He's pretty mellow," Lindsay explained. "And agreeable."

Which surprised her since he was made for a war.

"That's cute," Lindsay said, smiling at the name. "Sometimes I think about calling this guy "Stoner," that's how mellow he can be."

The jacket raised an eyebrow. "Except drugs are bad."

Lindsay was almost certain he was saying this because there was a ten-year-old in their vicinity.

"I think they show one of those at my school every year," Lindsay said. They weren't any more effective than those lame skits the Sober Students perform as far as she could tell anyway.

"There are enough weird things happening here to make us feel like we're on drugs already," Lindsay said, shaking her head in slight amusement.

"Point," Jacket added.

"So have I, now that I think about it," Lindsay admitted. "Should we be expecting something terrifying soon?"

She really hoped she didn't just jinx everything.
