Main Campfire, Monday Mid-Day

With Peter bored and classless today, he was sitting at the unlit campfire, reading a book and munching on a coldcut sandwich. He didn't have any food to share. He wasn't quite sure what would happen. Would a lack of food cause no one to come? Would a lack of fire factor into it?

It wasn't a scientific experiment. He was just lazy and his brain was thinking of just about anything other than Proust. All Proust was doing was making Peter want to go buy some cookies.

Mmmm, cookies.

[ooc: Open post! My unannounced mini-hiatus is over, but I'll be a wee bit slow during work hours.]

Also bored and classless and not wanting to waste what precious little time she had left, Ariel was definitely drawn to the campfire, without even needing the provocation of food. She grinned when she spotted Peter, plopped down on a log nearby, and then tilted her head, leaning way over until she could see the title of the book he was reading.

And, no, as a matter of fact, she couldn't just ask...

Ariel just grinned cutely back at Peter for a moment before bobbing her head in a nod. Beautiful day; wonderful day! She cocked her head toward the book, lifting an inquiring eyebrow. Nice book?

That earned another quirk of Ariel's eyebrows and she cast a look back toward the book, a skeptical one, one that said she'd have to see it to believe it, except that she kind of did believe it and didn't really think she'd be too terribly interested in what a book like that might have to say about cookies.

But what did interest her? Cookies. She nodded, after that look, solemn and serious, and then patted her stomach longingly. Feeding Ariel cookies could be pretty serious business, too.

Ariel's lower lip jutted out theatrically. That's it? No cookies?

Ariel sighed a little. Darn you, lips, still not able to do what she needed them to do! She shook her head lightly, lifting a hand to signify that she didn't really want any of the sandwich, and then shifted so she could pull out her little notebook and this easier on all of them.

"COoooooooOOoooookies. You made me hungry for some!"

And here she hadn't even been reading the book.

Really, Ariel only had one thing to say to that:

"I like cookies."

She let her cute smile and big blue eyes do the rest of the talking, anyway.

"Is that for a class or are you just that bored?" Lindsay asked, glancing at the book. She actually was bored, which is why she wandered over to the campfire

"If I had to choose between a sandwich and Proust, the sandwich wins," Lindsay replied. "Or any other food product."

"Been okay. Except my army jacket was human this weekend," Lindsay explained. "It was really odd having a conversation with a usually inanimate object. Did you have a similar experience?"

"I wasn't. Honest," Lindsay replied. "Guess you haven't listened to the radio broadcasts lately."

"Well, we live in a town that's in the future," Lindsay pointed out. "Inanimate objects turning human? Why not?"

Sometimes she wondered if this was all a dream.

"Well, hopefully you can believe what I say is accurate," Lindsay said, smirking slightly. "Though I don't have the same journalistic ethics as supposed squirrels."
