Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon

There was a new person waiting with Zack and Kennedy today. Well, 'with' was too strong a word. She was in the shadow of the dorms, dare we say... lurking?

Like a lurker.

"Welcome to the Reserve," Maladicta said from her lurking limited position in the shadows. "Hopefully many of you are returning, but if this is your first time here, you are just as welcome."

If expected to steal all the non-poisonous cookies and run before the insanity caught you.

"Right, if you haven't been here before, here's the rundown," Kennedy added, with an odd sidelong glance at Maladicta and her... lurkyness. "This place? Kind of has a tendency to get attacked. A lot. So there's a certain element of necessary ass-kicking involved here, and that's our job."

Sorry if you hadn't had that broken to you before now, and by someone with more tact.

"So this is where we keep organized to be ready for whenever the next bad thing comes down. Plus," she added, grinning, "it's pretty fun." She thought so, anyway.

"It is!" What? Zack wasn't about to argue, here. He certainly enjoyed this opportunity to get everybody running around doing weird things for an hour or so every Tuesday! "Today, though, we're going to keep it pretty simple. It's kind of like tradition to do the introduction thing on the first meeting after the Welcome Picnic, since we might have a few new faces and it's always good to know what it is that you're working with in case of an emergency. So today, we're going to do just that. And we're going to make a game out of it! Tell us your name, and then tell us one thing that you've never done on a battlefield before! And if anyone else hasn't done it, too... They drink!"

A mouthful of coffee. What? Did you think this was some kind of drunken party game? Weirdo.

"For example, I'm Zack Fair, SOLDIER 1st Class, and I've never used a gun for anything but practise reasons, before!"

Maladicta was just going to be over here. With her own mug of coffee, pleased as a cat that ate a canary.

"Lance-corporal Maladicta, I have never drunk... wine." Somewhere, the lone werewolf at the Trooper Station was rolling her eyes and not knowing why.

Kennedy was kind of torn between wishing they could do this game with actual booze and realizing that would be a bad idea at a meeting with a bunch of fighters, and looking at her coffee with something approximating resignation.

"Kennedy, Potential Slayer, and I've never..." Actually been on a battlefield before, technically. Or had any kind of field experience whatsoever, before Fandom. Shut up. "Used a weapon that was invented any time before, like, the sixteenth century Earth time before."

Zack blinked at Kennedy, and then into his coffee cup, and then he shrugged. He had no idea when the sixteenth century was.

"Your turn, guys! Your name, a rank if you have one, and something that you've never done before! If it's something that it looks like a lot of you haven't done, and it looks like something we could make use of here, maybe we'll get the chance to remedy that this semester!"

"Not a fan?" Hey, you didn't need to be a vampire to notice he wasn't comfortable.

"Ah, no, it isn't that," said Alexander, coughing again and now adding a little bit of shifting weight to the not at all obvious display of discomfort. "It's just...well...err...magic in, uh, my world can be a bit..."

Evil?

"Tricky."

"Magic everywhere can be a bit tricky," she replied, glancing at the crowd of people for a moment. "I haven't been to one of their meetings yet, though."

"Oh, you should come," said Alexander, happy to be off the subject of magic directly. "Everyone is very welcoming and kind, but you might have bring your own coffee."

Well, she got this neat travel mug and it would be a shame to let it go to waste...

"They don't have any?" WHAT SORT OF MAGICAL GROUP WAS THIS?

"Oh, sometimes they do," Alexander assured her. "Sometimes its tea. They sometimes have cookies and sometimes fruit. They like to keep things varied, I think."

Which reminded him, Karla had something about making cookies...

(Speaking of evil).

"Are the cookies purchased from town?"

"I...am not sure," Alexander admitted. "I think they take turns, and sometimes the leaders bake them. I know Karla has mentioned something about making some..."

Maladicta looked over at Zack for a moment. "...I'll bring you some coffee of your own."

"Perhaps we can arrange," Alexander, quite the generous soul, offered, "to have coffee for the whole group?"

"...maybe." Maladicta might have clutched her mug closer.

"I would just feel bad," said Alexander, "if we had coffee and no one else did..."

As honored as he felt to know that Maladicta would share her coffee with him.

"We could purchase some for the meeting." Some less good coffee, so she wouldn't be tempted.

"I think that would be a wonderful contribution to make for the group," said Alexander, agreeing with a pleased smile.
