2nd Floor CR, Saturday Night

Tara had been more or less ignoring the hands all day. They were weird, but they didn't seem inclined to attack or steal her stuff or anything, and one of them helped reshelve books when she cleaned her room. She was counting that as a win.

It wasn't until she went to make dinner that she realized how useful the hands really were. They started the spaghetti sauce simmering while she made garlic bread, and then went over to the fridge to get lettuce as if asking if she wanted a salad, too.

"Go for it," she said, wondering the tiniest bit how the hand could hear her. She doubted she'd ever get an answer.

She was making way too much food for just her, but that usually wasn't a problem in the dorms.

[OOC: Open CR. Now I want Italian food.]

"Good evening," Medusalith said as she entered the common room, one of the hands still riding on her shoulder. "Is that strange human food I smell?"

"Spaghetti and garlic bread," Tara said. "You should have some. The hands were helping, so I made a lot."

Medusalith peered at the spaghetti warily. "Is there animal flesh in it?" Then she smiled and said, "Yes, they are very helpful, are they not?"

"I didn't put any in, but we could if you wanted," Tara said uncertainly. "I could probably make meatballs..."

She smiled over at a hand. "It's like having an extra person to cook with. It's awesome."

There was garlic bread in the room. Bread with bits of garlic all over it.

But Maladicta was just going to not take a deep breath because the smell was starting to get to her, but she was going to go on in and be social.

Near the garlic.

"Hello."

"Hi," Tara said, tasting the full-of-garlic spaghetti sauce off a spoon held up to her by a disembodied hand.

Mmm, garlic.

"Did you want some dinner? It's really good."

Damn those Italians! They were out to get all vampires, she just knew it!

"I think I'll pass this time," Maladicta replied, possibly skirting around the edge of the room. Away from the damn garlic. "But it smells--lovely."

"Good evening," Medusalith said. "Are you here for the food?" she asked. "There's no meat in it," she assured her.

"Ah, no. Just for the company," Maladicta admitted. "I don't like--" What had Tara called it? "--Italian."

"So," Sookie said as she wandered in, drawn by the smell of food, "I'm not imagining the little disembodied hands, am I?" They'd seemed friendly enough, and not tried to hurt her, so after her initial shock, Sookie had been content to let them be. But it never hurt to check whether things were just figments of one's imagination.

"No," Medusalith assured her. "They are quite real. They helped me with my hair!"

Sookie studied the other girl's copious amounts of hair, and wondered, "...how many of 'em did?"

"They're rather helpful," Maladicta offered from her spot far from that damned garlic.

"So I'm gathering," Sookie said with a little smile. "Did they help you with your hair too?"

Tara shook her head. "Nope, but at least they're on the cool side of weird. One pretty much made the spaghetti sauce for me, do you want some? -- With noodles, I mean, not just the sauce."

Because that so needed clarification.

"And here I was all excited about trying something new," Sookie tsked with a grin. "Sure, I'll take some. It's nice to be in a common room where there's food and I'm not cooking, and the person who is actually can cook." She rolled her eyes as she went to get some noodles. "Karla made ice cream yesterday."

"Thanks for helping me put stuff away earlier," Kennedy was saying to the hands following her in-- either she had a sixth sense for spaghetti, or for Tara, or both. Who knew? "The sparring help was cool too."

And then she had to pause and take a deep breath. "Tell me there's enough left for me?"

"More than," Tara assured her. "Hey. Do you know how much you can cook if you have an extra hand helping out?"

"I do now," Kennedy replied, both eyebrows twitching upward as soon as she got a good look at all of it. "Useful, huh? And you made a million tons of spaghetti. I love you extra right now."

"No, I'm eating it all," Sookie deadpanned sadly. "It's my new goal to eat my weight in noodles before next Saturday."

"Which, while one of the weirder ambitions I've heard of, hey." Kennedy held both hands up; one of the hands following her imitated the gesture. "Not judging, just saying, I'm gonna have to pout a lot if I get deprived of tomato-saucey goodness because of it."

She grinned and flopped backwards over the arm of the couch to sprawl onto one of the cushions. "How's it going, Sookie?"

"I'm certain there is," Medusalith assured her, glancing at her plate. She hadn't taken that much, had she? It wasn't bad as human food went, but even so, surely there was plenty left.

"Mostly rhetorical question," Kennedy replied, and had to take a moment. "Okay, your hair is kind of amazing. Just getting that out there."

"I'm almost sure there will be enough." Because it was horrid. Horrid.

It was not! There was nothing wrong with that much garlic! "You've never seen me eat before," Kennedy pointed out good-naturedly. "Yo, Maladicta. Not hungry?"
