In front of the dorms, Friday morning
When Squall left the dorm this morning, he found himself beset by a random encounter swarm of miniature Fastitocalons. Whatever.
He didn't leave the dorm WITHOUT his gunblade, except when he went to class, so he was prepared. A few slashes made short work of the monsters, and he found himself disappointed that it was over so quickly.
Unfortunately (or fortunately?), another swarm headed towards him at the same time that something cast Revive on all the KO'd monsters at his feet. Great. Just great.
He could be here all day.
And he wouldn't enjoy himself. At all. Nope.
[Open for anyone who wants to join the party! Don't worry, it's not limited to three people.]

"Having fun?" she asked, amused by the sight of him slashing random flying things. She frowned at one of them. "Kind of small for Fastitocalons, aren't they?"
She held one arm out in front of her face, then swept it to the side. And one of the tiny Fastitocalons got fried by lightning. Very nice.
(no wings, despite the icon. I just don't have decent icons of her casting without wings.)

Yes, he was.
"Smaller means they're harder to hit, but easier to kill," he told her with a shrug. "Watch out, they auto-Revive somehow."
He mentally divided the fishes in half, and started only attacking the ones in his half. He just sort of assumed Rinoa would do the same. Regardless, he was glad to have her there. It was... fun.

"You're just using the blade?" she asked. She could hit him with Triple, too, but it'd be a waste if he didn't intend to cast any magic.
In the meantime, she was going to crack her neck, pick out three of the fish on her side, and nail each with a Thundaga in turn.
"Magic means you don't have to worry about them dodging," she added.
no subject
"Besides, I don't want to use up all my magic." Because those 100 Thundagas were just going to run out if he cast one or two of them.
Grudgingly, he lifted a hand to his forehead, and then thrust it out towards a fish, which promptly got fried by a lightning bolt.
"Happy?"
no subject
Pity she couldn't restock his magic from hers. Hers seemed to be an infinite supply.
Which was why there was no problem with hitting three more fish with Thundaga. Actually, it was the same three fish. Stupid Auto-Revive.
"Why aren't you downtown?"

Her other topic of conversation caught his attention, though. "What's downtown?"
no subject
She'd figured he was just being a loner.

It was dead.
Squall shrugged and put it away again. "I'm not used to phones that aren't plugged into the wall," he pointed out. It was a thin excuse, but it was at least a valid one.

Don't mind the light flicker in the air, and the small ring of diamonds appearing around Squall. He hadn't said that he didn't want Triple. She was counting that as good enough.

"Coordinating efforts sounds good," he decided. The swarm of fish in front of them wasn't getting smaller, and they might as well go join the group. "Let's go."
He killed another fish or two, and then set off towards downtown, just sort of expecting Rinoa to follow.
no subject
"Where do you think these things are coming from?" she asked, falling into step.
Oh, and hitting a couple more of those fish-things. It didn't require that much focus.
no subject
Because all monsters originally came from the moon. Everyone knew that.
"Dunno," he answered with a shrug. "Maybe they're migrating."

This whatever-it-was seemed to have caught everyone unawares. Even long-time residents.

Some SeeDs got restless, without anything to fight.
"Some" in this case meaning "Seifer, who had all the patience of a toddler on speed."
