4th Floor Common Room [Sunday afternoon]

Proto was sprawled out on the couch. It was a relaxed sort of sprawl, but that we belied by the way he was eying the three things in front of him. It was, after all, an intent sort of eying.

One box of graham crackers. One bag of jumbo marshmallows. One box of chocolate bars.

Someone was trying to figure out if it was possible to make s'mores without a fire. Because he was pretty sure that he might get in trouble for starting a fire in the middle of the common room.

Give him some time, and he might even consider trying the microwave.

Proto was engrossed in watching the marshmallow. "Is it supposed to do that?" he asked in consternation, completely missing the popcorn offer.

"I... don't know," Kurt told him. "It didn't explode, so that's good, at least!!!" He gestured at the door, indicating that Proto should open it.

"Wait... it might explode?" Proto eyed the microwave warily.

"You open it."

Kurt sighed. "It's not going to explode NOW, silly!!!" He took the s'more out of the microwave and handed it to Proto. "Sometimes things pop when they're cooking, because the steam inside can't get out. Never, EVER put a bratwurst in the microwave! It makes a mess, and then you are scrubbing for HOURS to get it clean!"

Proto took the s'more with a slight smile. "I'll try to remember that next time someone tries to convince me to microwave a bratwurst."

He bit into the s'more and grinned. "Oooh."

"'Oooh', or 'ewww'?" Kurt asked, with a quirk of his lip. "They sound the same, but they are very different!"

"Oooooh," Proto repeated, widening his mouth in a thoroughly exaggerated manner.

"EWWWW!" Kurt replied in an over-exaggerated manner, covering his eyes. "Keep your mouth closed while you are chewing!!!"

"Should I keep all the s'mores to myself, too?"

"Just go ahead and try it," Kurt snickered. "As your roomie, I can make life very, very difficult for you if you do."

"Is that a thread, my friend?" Proto smirked just a bit dangerously.

"Do you want it to be?" Kurt countered slyly. "If not, all you have to do is give me a s'more."

Proto considered that. On the one hand, more sugar for him. On the other hand, world-ending conflict with his roommate.

This one was a tough one.

Still, eventually he nodded and handed some ingredients over to Kurt. "I trust you can microwave your own?"

Kurt waited until he had the ingredients safely in his hands before he got all wide-eyed and sputtered "But... but... I don't know HOW to use a microwave! They're scary!"

"I think you hit it with a hammer repeatedly," Proto explained.

Kurt contemplated that as he assembled his s'more and put it in.

"I," he announced with a flourish, waving his hand in an elaborate path that ended with it hitting the start button, "do not."

Proto made over-dramatic gasping noises. "Oooooh. Aaaaaaah. Do it again!"

Kurt pulled out his s'more and took a bite. "Naaah. It'll lose its mystery. One performance per person."

"Then I suppose the rest of these are mine, huh?" Proto smirked.

He could live with that.

Well... sure, actually.

"And the rest of this is mine," Kurt told him with a smile, waving the bag of popcorn. "But if you wanted to trade some, I wouldn't mind."

"I'll keep that offer in mind, but I'll note that my stuff has more sugar."
