Girls with Guns Meeting. The Shooting Range, Wednesday Afternoon.

Triela spoke in low tones with Makita as people trickled in for the club. Once it was time to begin, she turned and spoke up.

"Welcome to Girls With Guns." She paused and smiled just a bit. "If you've been here before, welcome back. Most of you probably know me, but for those who don't, I'm Triela. I'm one of the people responsible for making sure none of you shoot anything you're not supposed to shoot." She paused and glanced over at Makita, inviting her to introduce herself.

Makita seemed rather relaxed and at-ease as she smiled at the gathered students. "I'm Makita," she said. "For those of you that don't already know me, I learned how to shoot just after I learned to walk, and I've been a member of the Nokgorkan Resistance Militia for over three years. If it has a trigger, I know how to use it."

"And I've worked in counter-terrorism for about six years now," Triela added. "What this means is that we know what we're talking about. If we tell you to do something? You better do it. Oh, and if you haven't met her, you should get to know our adviser." She offered Kerrigan a nod.

"There's a few rules you need to know before you even think about picking up a gun, regardless of your skill level," she continued, pointing at a large sign that was posted on both sides of the door. "The foremost one is to always treat every gun as if it is loaded. If I see anyone waving around a gun and making shooting noises, you're gone. Firearms are beautiful, wonderful creations, but they are not toys."

Triela's eyes narrowed at that, and she nodded. "What she said. Firearms are deadly by design, so don't even think about screwing around. And if you're new to guns and aren't sure what to do? That's what we're here for. Ask, don't just guess and hope you get things right."

"So to start, I want to hear what experience you've had with guns, and what your favorite is, if you have one. Just so that we know where everyone is starting from," Makita stated. "For instance, my babies--" and she pulled out her unloaded guns from their holsters, "--are Twined Model 79 Samsonov protocol machine pistols, with under slung G-79 protocol grenade launchers, and triple protoclips. Which basically means I can empty my clips three times before needing to reload either manually or with a new protocol. The reason I love the Samsonovs are two-fold. One, these were a gift from my father, and two, they're light and easy to maintain. When you're on the go a lot, those are important qualities in a firearm."

"OK, then who's next?"
heromaniac: (Momo's got a gun)

Momoko Akatsutsumi

Leda was kind of hiding in the back, hugging her injured right shoulder.
heromaniac: (smile hello)

Re: Socialize!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2010-09-30 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Momoko popped up beside Leda, smiling. "Leda! Hi! How're you feeling?"

Re: Socialize!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-09-30 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Leda smiled back at her, somewhat wanly. "Well my shoulder aches a little."
heromaniac: (eh? huh.)

Momoko frowned and leaned to peer at the wounded side. "Still? Is that okay? Have you been to the clinic for a check-up?"

Re: Socialize!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-09-30 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Leda frowned as well. "No, but it would take a while to heal a hole through my shoulder wouldn't it?"
heromaniac: (eh-heh nudge)

Re: Socialize!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2010-10-01 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I don't know? I mean, I heal fast and I've never actually been really shot. I'm just worried." Momoko resisted the urge to ask to look at the wounded shoulder; she wouldn't be able to tell anything. "Everything else is okay, then?"

Re: Socialize!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmostly. "Yeah, yeah I'm okay."
heromaniac: (sad leery)

Re: Socialize!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2010-10-01 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Momoko leaned a bit closer. "You totally don't sound like it. Are you hurting somewhere else? I'll go with you to the clinic if you want?"

Re: Socialize!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"It's...not that kind of hurt." Leda murmured hesitantly.
heromaniac: (sad leery)

Re: Socialize!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2010-10-01 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Not a... physical hurt? "Ah." Momoko actually understood that, yeah, and shifted a moment. "Is it something you can talk about? Or want to, even? I'm totally wiling to listen if you need?"

Re: Socialize!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Leda wasn't sure this was something she could really discuss with Momoko. She didn't know if her friend would understand. But she didn't want to hurt her feelings.

"Well...not here."
heromaniac: (smile happy eyes closed)

Re: Socialize!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2010-10-01 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Eh? Oh! "Oh, right. I'm sorry!" Momoko smiled. "Club time! Are you able to shoot or are you just going to hang around today?" Momoko wasn't sure which she was going to do yet, herself.

Re: Socialize!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm just here to hang out. Until I'm 100 percent I won't be doing any shooting."
heromaniac: (smile cheery)

Re: Socialize!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2010-10-01 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"That's good! Triela would totally get mad if she found out you were shooting while you were injured. I don't really know the other girl."

"I don't think I've met her either. But I think she's been around at school for awhile."

"This is a Defender sporting blaster pistol," Leia said, showing off her gun. "It's meant basically for self-defense and small-game hunting. It's not high-powered, but it is designed to be easy to use and carry." She grinned at the other attendees. "I'm a great shot with it."

"A 'blaster' pistol?" Scully asked, intrigued. "What kind of ammunition does it fire?"
likes_scoundrels: (I'm studying you)

[personal profile] likes_scoundrels 2010-09-30 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Particle beam energy," Leia said, offering the blaster to Scully so she could take a closer look. "Either to kill or to stun."

Re: Got a favorite?

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2010-09-30 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"What kind of power source is it, a chemical based battery?" Scully asked, taking it and looking it over carefully, fascinated. "And how long does the charge last?"
likes_scoundrels: (I see what you did thar)

Re: Got a favorite?

[personal profile] likes_scoundrels 2010-09-30 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Concentrated gases," Leia said. "Just don't ask me which ones. It'll last for about a hundred shots or so, depending on what setting you have it on."

Re: Got a favorite?

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2010-09-30 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Scully gave her a quick grin for that, still turning it over and over. "Makes sense... stun vs. kill. I assume it cuts through flesh to inflict damage to internal organs?" She paused. "Could it be modified to use as a grenade, with those gases in it?"
likes_scoundrels: (Black and white interested)

Re: Got a favorite?

[personal profile] likes_scoundrels 2010-09-30 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Leia nodded. "A direct hit to the torso can kill instantly if you hit the right organs. A graze is like a really bad burn. And I've never used the power cell as a grenade, but I don't see why it couldn't be used that way, particularly if you're throwing it into a fire."

"It would be a waste of a good weapon, but if times were desperate enough, very useful," Scully said thoughtfully, examining the barrel. "How long have you been shooting with it?"
likes_scoundrels: (I'm watching you)

"Just over three years," Leia said. "My foster father gave it to me as a birthday present when I turned 14. He thought I should know how to defend myself."

Re: Got a favorite?

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2010-09-30 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Scully nodded, and returned the gun to Leia. "I'm envious. I'd love to have a weapon so versatile, that I wouldn't have to try and shoot someone to defend myself." She paused. "Shoot to wound or kill, I mean," she clarified.

"Having the option to stun is useful," Leia agreed with a nod. "Your weapons just file projectiles, right?"

"Small high-velocity bullets, yes. A tiny combustion, and it's shot at the target." Scully unholstered hers, and showed it to Leia. "It has room for handwavey bullets, but it's very easy to re-load."

"It's like a museum replica," Leia said, taking the gun and gingerly turning it over in her hands.

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Scully had to laugh a little, wondering how her colleagues would take that. "I suppose it would be, if something as efficient as yours was on the market here. We have tasers-- they administer an electric shock charge, but they have a very limited range, and they're not reliable. This gun is the same as one carried by the national law enforcement agents here in the U.S." She paused. "At least it was ten years ago; I think they've moved on by now."
likes_scoundrels: (I'm on to you)

"Power cell," Leia explained, popping it out to show Makita. "When it's fully charged it hold about 100 shots."

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"This is a Smith and Wesson," Scully said, holding up her gun. "Standard for many law enforcement types in this country ten years ago. It's stainless steel, weather resistant, fires 9 mm rounds, and suitable for deer hunting in this country." Or manhunting.
heromaniac: (huh what)

"Um?" Momoko raised her hand. "I don't have a gun. I borrow Triela's usually. I've used a couple different kind, though, and I've been shooting for two years now."

Triela has guns to share if anyone needs them, too!
