The Gardens, Mid-Afternoon

Cassidy had given up on dressing like a Queen today and her mother had laughed at her about it with great affection. After breakfast and Devra had visited some of her teachers, she had met her daughter at the gardens as asked.

"And this is where I spend a lot of my time, and no I promise it's not all of my time, but they're such nice gardens, Mother. I love working in them and I keep making all kinds of friends or having nice discussions when I'm here..."

"Someone got away from her Uncle Jasper, didn't she?" Alice asked, fixing Renesmee with a Look that lasted for all of a moment before she was smiling again.

"At least she came to someone you know," Cassidy said with a grin. "Alice, this is my mother, Devra. Mother, this is Alice. She's the one who took me to visit her family."

"Hi," Alice said, grinning at Devra. "My family loved having Cassidy visit. I'm pretty sure my mother wanted to adopt her."

Oh, please. It was Esme. She had adopted her.

Devra smiled at Alice. "Cassidy has spoken a lot about you and your family, Alice. I would like to offer my thanks for making her feel welcomed."

Cassidy grinned. "And this is Renesmee. Isn't she the most adorable little girl?"

Renesmee just grinned.

"Oh, we'll never hear the end of this," someone said as he came up behind Alice, slipping an arm around her waist.

Alice grinned and kissed his cheek. "Renny, Cassidy, Devra, this is Jasper. My boyfriend."

Look, explaining the husband thing wasn't easy, all right?

Devra smiled. "Hello, Jasper. It's very nice to meet you."

It was only because Cassidy had spoken so highly of Alice and her family that Devra wasn't more concerned about an unknown male being this close to her daughter.
