Cheerleading Practice, The Gym, Wednesday after classes [10/6]

Harper felt the need to burn off some energy, so she ~~handwavily~~ contacted the cheerleaders and wannabe cheerleaders to let them know that there would be a practice today.

"Hey guys! Welcome to cheerleading," she announced once everyone got there. "We're still trying to figure out a convenient date for tryouts, but for now, everyone is welcome to join us. I thought we could go over some cheers and practice some jumps so everyone's ready to do their best at tryouts." Considering that most of the squad had graduated, Harper figured they'd take just about everyone who showed up at tryouts anyway.

"So let's turn up the music, grab a pair of pom poms, and get ready to cheer!" finished Harper, bouncing in place.

Returning cheerleaders and people hoping to try out for cheerleading!

Because warming up is important, but catching up on gossip is even more essential.

Help someone learn the cheers, or suggest some new ones of your own.

Existing cheerleaders, why should we have tryouts?

When he pings in.

Who are more than welcome to hang out and watch, or use the gym for other stuff while watching.

Cheerleading is back, and I am nearly as excited as Harper. :D

With fall break next week, we probably won't have tryouts until the week after, but I wanted to get the ball rolling. Existing cheerleaders, we have a planning post here (http://community.livejournal.com/go_gremlins/28568.html) to discuss tryouts.

"We really need more people on the squad," Chloe said with a shy smile.

"Definitely," said Harper. "So far, I have liked what I've seen from the new people. I'd be happy to have all of them on the squad."

Robin dusted off his gremlin mask and made sure it didn't need any repairs.

Rilla Blythe

Rilla stood nervously over by herself, wondering if this had really been a good idea.

And that was Harper's cue to bounce over. "Hi! Are you going to be trying out for the squad?" she asked.

"I was thinking of it," Rilla admitted, "but I'm not entirely certain what cheerleading entails."

"Well, there are two aspects to cheerleading," said Harper. "Part of what we do in encourage people and support our school. The other part of it is the sport, where we do all sorts of jumps and tumbles to entertain the crowd."

Ariel really didn't know what the other girls were doing at first, but, with a watchful eye, she started to imitate the stretching and, immediately, figured it out by the pulling, warming-up feeling in her legs.

Which was just way too neat and made her want to bounce around and cheer even more. Warming up was awesome!

Rilla's brows furrowed. "I don't know how to tumble, unless you mean falling over," she replied.

"Can you do a somersault or a cartwheel?" asked Harper. "Those are probably the easiest moves."

"I've never tried," Rilla said.

Showing that much leg was indecent, after all.

Harper considered that for a moment. "We should probably start with basic cheers, then, and work up to tumbling," she decided. "Don't worry. The cheering part is pretty simple. You just have to clap and chant along with the rest of the squad."

"I can be very enthusiastic," Rilla assured her with a smile. "I'm Rilla, by the way."

"Nice to meet you, Rilla. I'm Harper, one of the co-captains of the squad," she said. "I suggest you watch some of us running through cheers once we're done with warm-ups, and I'll try to give you a copy of them. You'll have plenty of time to practice before tryouts."
