The locker door opened and dropped out a bedraggled, angry hag of a woman in a lab coat and a frankly fabulous hat.

"Why do we even have that lever?" she demanded to the air as she ripped off her goggles.

She glanced around the hallway. "And where am I?"

Yzma was back, and abusing the heck out italics. Look out, everyone.

Harper was doing a lot of thinking as she set up everything the squad needed for practice. Now that she'd taken the last of her final exams, she was officially done with high school. She thought that would be a happy moment. But in reality, she was sad to think that she'd have to leave soon.

But in her typical fashion, she was trying to compensate for how gloomy she was feeling by putting on energetic dance music and turning up the volume so it was really, REALLY LOUD. It was tough to be sad when you couldn't hear yourself think.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
It look a little while for Harper to get the gym set up for practice today. She wasn't sure how it happened, but something had melted the tread on the bottom of her sneakers overnight. Without it, she kept slipping on the gym floor while trying to get Livejournal to load move tumbling mats.

But Harper was stubborn, and she refused to quit trying until she was done setting up. It might have gone faster if she had just gone barefoot.

[OOC: And since the entry has refused to load for me for the last half hour, let's go OCD-free today.]
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper pulled out the mats, making sure to concentrate on stacking a few extra in the center of the practice area. She had plans to have the squad practice elevator lifts today. But first, she wanted to see how comfortable everyone was with the idea before anyone went flying through the air.

The music was playing and Harper got started on her stretching as she waited for the rest of the squad to arrive.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper was running a little late in getting to the gym, and she seemed a bit distracted as she rushed to get everything set up for the rest of the squad. But it didn't take her long to lay out all the mats, set up a table with post-practice snacks and put on some energetic music.

If anyone wanted to practice their tumbling, they might want to find another spotter instead of relying on Harper. Other than that, it was business as usual for the cheerleaders.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper laid out the mats very carefully today because she had some ambitious plans and the squad would need all the padded surfaces they could get. "We're going to do toe touch drills today," she announced as the rest of squad gathered. "Now, this is a pretty advanced jump and if you can't do them right away, that's fine. With some practice, you should be able to build up to doing an actual toe touch."

And knowing the limit of her own abilities, Harper made sure to bring a cooler full of ice packs for any possible injuries. She was really hoping that the ice would not be needed.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper's smile was a bit wider than usual, but you would be smiling too if your parents were stuck in Romania and couldn't make it for Parents Weekend. (Harper wasn't sure why her parents were in Romania, but she didn't want to ask.)

She was grinning as she put out the mats, making sure to put some of the extras along the wall in case there was any runaway tumbling. She also brought a notepad and pen in case she wanted to take notes on any new business the squad wanted to discuss.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper missed hanging out on Hawaiian beaches, but she was glad to get back to cheerleading. She had the mats all set up for the squad to practice their tumbling, or just practice cheers if they weren't necessarily ready for tumbling.

And as an added treat, she set up the snack table with cups of mango passion fruit juice if anyone was really wanted to revisit spring break in Hawaii. After all, it was important to stay hydrated!
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Setting up the gym for cheerleading practice went fairly quickly. In fact, Harper finished early enough to sit down with her sketchpad and work on an idea for new cheerleader uniforms. Harper thought it was a great idea, which meant that in reality, it looked horrible. She wasn't quite ready to share it with the others, though. Maybe she'd quietly ask a few people for feedback first. Or maybe she could whip up a sample uniform and wear it to practice next week...

Let's get this practice started to distract Harper from her plans.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper got to the gym a little early to start setting up for practice. It was probably a good thing since she found herself having to dodge little flying cupids who kept trying to shoot her with arrows.

"Don't even think about it!" she snarled at one cupid, holding a gym mat to shield itself from its arrow. Needless to say, getting everything set up was going to take longer than usual.

Rilla had discovered slice and bake cookies today.

Which was why she was now muttering to herself, wondering why she couldn't get the little hearts in the middle of the sugar cookies to not look incredibly deformed.

Rilla's life was very difficult.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper took a while to get the gym set up just the way she wanted, with plenty of gym mats, copies of the cheers and routines the squad used, and really loud fast-paced music to generate some excitement. Don't worry, she'll shut the music off if it becomes too much a distraction.

Welcome to cheerleading tryouts!
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper set up the mats as usual for practice. She also brought art supplies with her today and set up a poster-making corner of the gym, if anyone wanted to get a head start in making posters to promote tryouts.

But she was going to take the opportunity to warm up for a while before getting to the posters because it was still so cold outside.

Chloe had gotten to the gym early to set up practice for the squad. She figured that it would be a good chance for them to talk and make plans now that the holiday madness was over. She had some ideas for them to do as activities and she might even talk about them.

When people got to the gym they would hear music and see one of their co-captains sitting on a mat as she stretched.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper figured that the squad could use some fun after last week's scary events and this week's exhausting finals. It took some planning to put her scheme into place, but by Wednesday afternoon, there was a trampoline set up in the gym. It was also surrounded by lots of gym mats because, let's face it, Harper was not the most coordinated person.

"Have fun jumping on the trampoline, but if you're new to this, you don't want to jump too high right away," said Harper. "In other words, no tumbling yet. Just get used to it first, because it might ruin your holidays if you fall flat on your face."
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper set up the mats as usual, but today she also had supplies for another optional activity. "I thought we could practice face-painting on each other," she squealed to the rest of the squad. "After all, what better way to show team spirit than wearing your team colors on your face?"

At least she'd remembered to bring plenty of cold cream for removing the face paint in case anyone had second thoughts about having gremlins painted on their cheeks.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper wasn't sure if many people would stick around after classes for practice, especially if they were going home for the extra-long weekend. But she wanted to get a good work-out in so she had extra room in her tummy for Thanksgiving goodies.

The mats were out, the music was blaring, and the gym was ready for the cheerleaders to do their thing!
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper had been in a bit of a daze all week. She wasn't sure why, but all she could think about was kissing boys. She was still daydreaming when she started setting up for practice, which is why the set up mats all over the gym until she ran out. Someone had forgotten how many cheerleaders to expect.

[Hold your horses. We don't have OCD yet. OCD in place!]

Harper was happy to have practice today. She was already bouncing off the walls from her sugar high after Halloween and needed a chance to work off the extra energy.

"Congratulations to our new cheerleaders!" said Harper, grinning at the new members of the squad. "I'm so happy to see you joining us. Today, we'll be working on learning some new cheers, and we might do some brainstorming for some ideas for the rest of the semester."

[Please wait for the OCD in place. Cheering may now commence.]

Raven was worried about Karla after the text message she'd gotten late last night. As far as she knew, Karla had run off alone to Kaeleer, which didn't bode well. And fretting about Karla definitely wasn't helping with the issues she'd talked to Dinah about yesterday, so she decided to distract herself as only Monday nights could. Ice cream and Rumor Gal. Baby J was supposed to return tonight. There could be imminent rage...which wasn't very healthy either, but at least it wasn't worrying or moping.
[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com
Harper felt the need to burn off some energy, so she handwavily contacted the cheerleaders and wannabe cheerleaders to let them know that there would be a practice today.

"Hey guys! Welcome to cheerleading," she announced once everyone got there. "We're still trying to figure out a convenient date for tryouts, but for now, everyone is welcome to join us. I thought we could go over some cheers and practice some jumps so everyone's ready to do their best at tryouts." Considering that most of the squad had graduated, Harper figured they'd take just about everyone who showed up at tryouts anyway.

"So let's turn up the music, grab a pair of pom poms, and get ready to cheer!" finished Harper, bouncing in place.

Sure, Ariel had said just streamers and a banner, but there were balloons now thrown into the mix because she couldn't help it. She and Ellie had gotten up all the decorations, which were all very pretty shades of green, based entirely on the fact that Ariel remembered that green was the color of the shirt she'd helped Chuck pick out. There was still an awful lot of flowers around, too, though who even knew where Ariel was getting them. The banner, meanwhile, was certainly not lacking in sparkle, stretched across the room:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHUCK!!!!!

So now there would just be the setting out of all the food and the drinks and ever important CAKE, then waiting for guests and the ever important BIRTHDAY BOY and it would be time to party!

Raven had claimed the fifth floor common room with a flag in the name of Rumor Gal tonight. She'd been waiting months for tonight's episode after the terrible cliffhanger earlier that year that had left her favorite character in grave peril.

She thought she'd figured out her laptop so that she could video chat with Hoshi if she called, and Jono had said he'd join her to watch, but anyone was welcomed, of course.

Just don't even think of turning the channel.

Just because he had a fondness for ice didn't mean Bobby hated things like campfires. Because campfires? Meant junk food. And Bobby Drake was always up for junk food.

So there was a cooler of (amazingly) cold sodas to one side, and a good sized pile of various junk foods as well.

Currently, Bobby was experimenting with roasting a Twinkie on a stick, but there were definitely the more traditional s'mores fixings to be found as well.

So, yeah, Puck was a little on the tipsy side. He'd gotten drunk in his alcove, though, like a person who didn't want to get in trouble.

Such an occasion, of course, called for fire. Sadly this was pretty typical back in Lima, too, where there weren't even firepits. On the bright side, that meant he was able to light a fire pretty effectively.

And now he had a bag of procured marshmallows, which, okay, he'd toast. But more importantly, he'd found a box of Peeps left over from Easter and was meticulously shooting them, throwing them, launching them and otherwise flinging them into the fire to make them alternately blow up or melt. So far, more were melting than blowing up, really, but if it worked in a microwave, Puck was sure it had to work even better in a fire.

In theory, Tara knew everyone who came to a Reserves meeting was her friend. That theory wasn't helping her case of the jitters about leading the meeting as much as she'd like. She couldn't look at the group as a whole, or at Kennedy, or at Karla, Raven and Emmett; she was sure she'd completely lose the ability to speak if she did. She settled for glancing between her notecards and a neutral point on the ground a few feet from the altar she stood beside as she spoke, talking slowly and softly so as to minimize the chance she would stutter.

Stuttering should have been the least of her worries. )

It was a slightly less cheerful K-Mart that had hauled out the mats and gotten everything all set up and ready. This was one of the last practices she'd have with some of these people and while she wasn't friends with all of them, she'd miss each and every one that was graduating, damn it.

Which was... a whole lot of them, holy whoa.

But yes. She was all about the getting ready.

After last weekend, the students of Fandom were probably hoping for a nice, lazy weekend before their week filled with finals. Unfortunately, it could never be easy for people who lived on the island. Where there was once still and quiet, there was now a shrill fire alarm going off, blaring loud enough to even be heard by the deepest of sleeper.

Time to evacuate the dorms, students! And, once everyone started spilling out onto the lawn, they'd find that Fandom had another treat for them. It was warm, that was good, but at some point that night it'd started raining. And it wasn't just ordinary rain. It was raining chocolate syrup and occasionally hailing down marshmallows.

Just another typical late night out on the lawn of the dorms for a fire drill! Hope you brought your umbrella!

Tony was running a bit late today, so it was Jack who got to the sixth floor first and cleared a space for a rehearsal. He kept glancing out the window at the fog as he did; he still didn't like this one bit.

The cast had all received a handwavey email telling them where and when to meet to rehearse. Jack trusted that the townies involved wouldn't be too heartbroken to miss a week, circumstances being what they were.

"We're on act three this week," Jack announced. "No muffins, but there's probably left over cake from the party last night if you poke around enough. Tony will be here to direct in a moment."

It felt like it'd been awhile since Hannibal had set up for cheerleading practice but, just like riding a bike, he remembered exactly how to do it. There were mats, there was music and soon, there would be cheerleaders.

Well, at least Hannibal hoped so on that last one. It'd be sad if he was left by his lonesome during cheerleading practice. After all, he was a fan of pretty girls (and guys) and the squad had that in droves.

Hannibal was perched in the bleachers for the time being, drinking some water and sprawling. He'd get to work soon.

Hayley was, thankfully, not making a giant mess in the common room again. This time she just had a bowl of popcorn sitting mostly untouched on a coffee table. Hayley herself was draped over a couch, debating if she should call some of the people that'd left her messages yesterday back again.

Yeah, no one had told her those weren't intended for her.

For now, she had a 'Man vs Food' marathon on the TV, though it was mostly unwatched. She kept dozing off. The couch was just that comfy.

Cordelia was in a great mood today. Nothing traumatizing had happened over the weekend, she's managed to avoid all but Buffy despite saying she'd wanted to run into the other Xander, and it was just a good day. A good start to the week even. And she decided to start it off by baking, since that was the only sort of cooking that Cordelia Chase did, and sharing with anyone who wanted some.

There were two platters of brownies, one with nuts and one without, a towering platter of rice crispy treats and she was working on frosting several dozen cupcakes.

Karla put the finishing touches on the party preparation. She was glad she'd given herself extra time to set up; she'd had to do everything by hand. Even most basic Craft was beyond her, other than being able to occasionally call in or vanish small items. How the hell did landens manage? The only way she'd finished on time was because a few females kept deliberately vague to keept the option open, but to avoid modding had shown up and helped.

The only way she was ever drinking the suppression brew again was if it were a life-or-death situation. And depending on whose life-or-death it was, Karla might have to give some serious thought to the matter.

Still, it was done. The counters and scattered tables practically groaned with food and drink (the majority from T&C of course!): fruits, veggies, popcorn, chips, candy, various chocolates, soda, water, juice, Gatorade, wine, vodka, rum, various mixers...The furniture in the living room had been pushed aside for maximum space (it would still be a bit cramped, regardless) and the TV had been set up to play whatever movies folks brought along. Extra pillows and blankets were heaped everywhere, both to use as furniture and in case anyone forgot theirs. There were a few sets of hastily-acquired speakers for people to plug their pod-mabobs and empty3 players into for music, and a small section of the kitchen had been set aside off for experimenting with hair dye and make-up.

And in her room was a small pile of sacks and bags of various kind. All the better for stealing boxers with.

The cabin--and Karla--were about as ready as they'd ever be. Now just to wait for folks to show up.

It was a quiet night. Just after midnight, a steady rain had started falling, drenching the island quickly and showing no sign of slowing. A few hours later, at 2am, the peace of the night was broken when the fire alarm started blaring. It would shrilly blare, stop and then repeat the same shrill blare two seconds later. And it was not going to stop until the all clear was given.

Thus, all the students had to carry their tired selves from their snuggly significant others or their snuggly beds to go wait IN THE RAIN on the dorm lawn. The fire department was making sure all the students were a safe distance away from the school so there were no awnings to hide under. All the students would be stuck out in the steady rain.

The fire department headed into the building but this could take awhile. Enjoy your fire drill, kids!

Karla was nervous. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise. Karla had been nervous all day. But this was a new and different kind of nervous. Now, she was about to host a party, which she had never done, in a world that was still foreign to her, and for many girls she did not know very well. It was enough to unsettle even the strongest nerves.

Still, she though she was ready. Dinah had promised to provide her laptop for movies. Karla and Gabrielle had gone to Turtle's and purchased lots of moddable snacks, sodas, and lots of candy and chocolates. She'd bought make-up, since Dinah had mentioned it's importance in such matters, plenty of blankets and pillows to share, and several other sundries because she wasn't entirely certain what else would be needed, and wished to be prepared. Also, lots of booze, from her private Kaeleeran stash.

Most importantly, there was a small, neatly lettered sign on the door that said 'No Males Please.'

Well, she was as ready as she was ever going to be. "Kiss kiss," she muttered.

Shilo had decided to celebrate a successful first day at work with a fire. So she'd found some kindling, an old newspaper, and matches, and was building a fire the same way that her father had taught her how to in the fireplace.

She didn't know if it worked the same way for a campfire, but she could only hope. Besides, it wasn't as if she was planning on this being someone's funeral pyre. Just a small campfire, and hopefully some company.

At 2 am exactly, a loud buzzing sound rang through the dorms. An not just any buzzing. A loud, obnoxious "BZZZT!" followed by a two-second pause, followed by another "BZZZT!", followed by another two-second pause, followed by a... You get the idea. And the really bad part was the way it tended to feel like it was inside your head when it "BZZZT"ed as you were passing by in the halls.

So due to the "BZZZT"ing and fire safety regulations, the students had to drag their tired, cranky selves out of bed (or whatever), make their way down the halls and stairwells, and file out onto the dorm lawn in the chilly, damp weather, and did we mention it was 2 am?

The Fandom fire department was on hand, but they'd probably make everyone wait for a while just because they were cranky, too.

It had taken a few moments to figure out the DVD player, but Merlin did as he was told and just pushed buttons until it worked. It was a surprisingly good method.

He sat back, ready to watch this porno thing that Emmett had said would be interesting.

And in the first five minutes, he couldn't quite understand the draw of this sort of entertainment. It was only like Morgana and Gwen in the fact that they looked vaguely similar. The way they talked and the room they were in certainly didn't look like any castle he'd ever seen. And, really, those dresses were just terribly impractical for a lady or a servant. They must be terribly cold--

Merlin's eyes went very big as the dress issue was solved and they ladies started kissing. The only sound he made was the verbal equivalent of a keysmash.

Given how many of her conversations that afternoon had turned to food, Sookie had found herself kind of homesick in spite of herself, especially after facing the prospect of eating what she found in the common room.

So, she took it upon herself to run out and grab some fresh ingredients, and returned back to the common room to boil some rice and throw everything moddable that she'd bought and found that looked good into the pot to make some jambalaya.

She'd taken a little more care and put together a berry cobbler, admittedly using frozen berries. Her gran had always said it tasted the same anyway, so long as you used enough butter.

She kept the TV on while she cooked and familiarized herself with the kitchen, and tried to adjust to the technology and appliances that were ten years ahead of her time. It was fairly easy to figure out, even if some of the commercials threw her for a loop.
