Third Floor Common Room, Monday Morning

Kate had not been pleased to find herself still a dude when she'd woken up today. It wasn't that she had a huge problem with it as such herself, it was just that she was kind of worried for the sanity of a certain someone else.

But there was nothing she could really do about it, so she'd just wandered down into the common room and decided it was a day for baking. Everyone would appreciate chocolate chip muffins, right?

(Kate, by the by, was not mature enough to not laugh at the fact that they had nuts in them.)

A couple of batches of muffins baked and set on the counter to be taken, she flopped down onto one of the couches and started leafing through an issue of Cosmo. Trying to see if she could get a male perspective on it today.

"Are these for anyone?" Christian asked, having wandered down in search of breakfast. Now that the shock had worn off, he was rather enjoying being a girl; it was a totally different perspective, and he had to admit he made for a pretty one.

"Uh huh," Kate confirmed lazily, flipping to the next page without looking up. "That's the idea. Thought everyone might want chocolate at a weird time like this."

Only then she bothered to actually look at the girl. Possible boy. It wasn't a familiar face, anyway. "Who are you?"

Too early for guessing games, in her book.

"Someone who appreciates chocolate therapy," Christian answered as he picked up a muffin and peeled off the paper. "It's Christian. I should ask you the same."

Kate raised her eyebrows a bit; she wasn't sure she would've gotten this one too quickly if she hadn't asked.

"Kate," she said. "I see you're doing pretty well with the whole girl thing."

Waking up and still being a girl only put Percy in a worse mood than he'd been in yesterday. Brooding in his room was his first choice but he had some forethought that maybe his roommate would hate that so he decide to take his bad mood down to the common room.

Lo and behold, there were already people there and there was food too. Good, that meant he could stay inside the dorms and not venture out looking like this.

"Morning," he grumbled, hating that stupid girl voice so much.

"Morning," Kate replied from her spot on the couch, glancing up and trying not to smirk even faintly at that fairly obvious bad mood. After yesterday she was well aware some people didn't take this quite as easily as she did.

"There are muffins on the counter if you want some."

It was the hair -- it was always reddish, but when it got longer the tint was much more obvious.

"I wasn't yesterday," he said, around a bite of muffin. "But then I realized this is an opportunity almost no one ever gets. I don't think it's even possible. I'd be throwing it away if I spent the whole time curled up under a quilt mourning it, wouldn't I?"

"Thanks," he grumbled, wandering over to grab a muffin. It was stupid to think that sweets would make him feel better, wasn't it? "Are you new or just dealing with this stupid island's idea of a joke?"

"That's my thinking, pretty much," Kate nodded. She'd spent a good while yesterday trying to convinve someone else of that, after all. "If course, this isn't even a first time for me."

Hinata was, in all honesty, simply grateful that nothing had affected her this time around. So it was her perfectly normal self that was wandering into the common room in search of food.

She studied the people she didn't recognize for a moment. "Good morning," she said softly in greeting.

"Oh, I'm so not new that this isn't even my first time experiencing this," Kate told him, lazily stretching some on her couch. "I'm guessing you're not a fan?"

A shame, really, because he was kind of cute.

"Good guess," he griped, coming over to take a seat on one of the chairs. "This is a stupid thing done by a stupid island for stupid reasons."

He was not a fan.

"Stupid place."

"It's happened before?" Christian asked. "How -- strange. You would think once would be enough. Did you look the same, the last time?"

"Pretty much exactly, yeah," Kate nodded. "I think it was last summer or early fall, first the guys and then later the girls. I think the island has some weird things it likes to repeat. Like... the alternative universe kids, and this."

Kate... couldn't help looking a little bit amused at that. "So, what's so wrong about being a chick for a while?"

"Um, I dunno," he said, staring at Kate like she was insane. "Maybe the fact that I don't wanna be a girl for a little while? Maybe that one. Yeah, that one."

So pissy.

Ooh, someone unaffected! Seemed to be a rarity, today.

"Hey, Hinata," Kate greeted with a little smile and a lazy wave. "Or person who looks like Hinata, at least."

"And this time, it got us all at once," Christian nodded. "What about kids?"

If Christian had been told about them, he'd long since forgotten.

Definitely a rarity if radio was to go by.

Her lips twitched. "I am quite sure," she said lightly, "that I am Hinata entirely."

And hopefully no one else looked like her. That would be weird.

"You know me," she added, "but I'm afraid that today I cannot say the same for you...?"

So, so pissy. There was kind of a nagging feeling in the back of Kate's mind, telling her she should be able to recognize this one. "Uh huh," she nodded, "I think we covered that already. I was more wondering why you don't wanna be that."

"Oh, after prom we had some of our alternative universe, possible future kids show up for a few days," Kate said, like it was really no big deal. Even if it totally had been. "I hear that's kind of an annual thing."

"Kate," Kate replied, helpfully. "I think you're one of the very few easily recognizable people today."

Seriously. She had seen like two or three people she could identify when they'd gotten back to Fandom yesterday.

"There has to be a specific reason other than the fact that I don't want to be a girl?" Percy wondered, raising an eyebrow.

Christian made a hmmphing noise. "Well," he said, "I've gotten through everything else the island threw at me. I suppose playing the parent wouldn't be any worse."

"Well, you're talking to someone who usually is one," Kate pointed out. Oh so helpfully. "So it'd sound better to me if there was a specific reason, and not just that you're categorically against the whole idea."
