Third Floor Common Room; Tuesday Evening [ 10/26 ].

Alexander certainly didn't think there would be a great deal of difference between this common room and the one on his previous floor, but that didn't stop him from checking it out a little. Finding nothing too noticeable, he grabbed something to eat from the fridge, a nice cup of tea as well, and then settled on the couch.

To pull out a notebook and a pen and get to writing a letter home. He could work on it in his room, but he felt like the change of pace, and maybe the chance to be social should he be interrupted.

Quinn had stopped in the common room to try to find some kind of dinner.

"They probably have a desk in your room," she informed Alexander as she poked through the cupboard. "If you want someplace not so public."

"It's either that or to pile dirty clothes on," Quinn smirked back at him, going over to the fridge and trying to decide if she really wanted the pizza. The answer seemed to be yes.

"And thanks," she added, taking a slice and sticking it in the microwave. "I always appreciate a heads up about good leftovers. How have you been?"

"I didn't get to talk to much of anyone," Quinn assured him. "I was running around doing council stuff all night." Which she had not, strictly speaking, needed to do, but it made her feel important and kept her mind off the lack of a date.

"But I had a good time. Everything went smoothly. Piranhas didn't invade during the dance. I can't complain."

"How was Maladicta as a date?"

"We tried to talk her into a dress, but she kind of went off and did her own thing," Quinn sighed. She didn't get it, but it was Maladicta's choice. "... wait, what did you wear if you weren't wearing a suit?"

"So, like, the Renn Faire look?"

Quinn was so nonjudgmental. Truly.

"Geeks dress up and party like it's 1599," Quinn explained lightly. She took her pizza out of the microwave, blotted the grease, and picked off a slice of mushroom. "It's like the middle ages, if the middle ages had Pepsi ads all over the place."

Quinn noticed the confusion. "I'm not any good at explaining things to people from other worlds," she said slowly. "Um ... castles. Kings and queens. Jousting. Huge turkey legs. Is that all about right?"

"Good thing you never did," Quinn teased. "I think the giant ones bite."

"I'll have to believe you on that," Quinn said easily. She was a suburban creature; she'd never been closer to a turkey than at the Thanksgiving table. "So did you grow up taking care of animals like that? I really didn't."
