"Sometimes, you don't have the best working conditions," Makita began. "Maybe you're out in the desert, and you get sand in your barrel. Maybe it's pouring. Or maybe you tripped and dropped your gun down a canyon and had to go fetch it. But it's important to know how to safely take your gun apart, clean it, and reassemble properly to prevent jams or other accidents."

Triela was nodding. "And even if you're somehow lucky enough to never run into bad weather or terrain, just firing your weapon is going to put wear on its parts. Knowing how to check to see which springs or pins might be close to wearing out is something you'll need even if you only ever shoot a gun out on the range."

"If this is something you already know how to do, we have blindfolds!" Makita held up a selection of bright silk scarves she'd purchased from Pixie Dust. Because they were pretty. "You might not always have electricity!"

"Makita's right. Or you might be outdoors at night. There are any number of reasons that you might not have enough light to properly see when working on a gun. But only take a blindfold if you actually know what you're doing." She and Makita might race later or something. "Even when you're taking one apart, a gun is not something you play around with." Triela looked around. "If you need to borrow a weapon to work with, talk to us. Tool kits are also available. We'll be watching your work, so if you're not sure what to do, just ask."

It's fun!

Momoko was here! Despite the weirdness of the day so far. She was also probably one of the few people on the island who was still willing to talk. At least she didn't have to SING everything today.

"Hey, Momoko," Triela waved, tossing her friend a grin.

"Triela! Hi!" Momoko caught the grin and tossed one back. "I hope you have lots of time today. I am going to need lots of help with my gun."

"Have you ever broken one down before?" Triela asked. She rather suspected that Momoko hadn't. So, yes, lots of time.

"I don't think so," Momoko shook her head. "Does removing the shells or shell cartridge count?"

Triela shook her head. "No. So we'll start at the beginning. Come on," she nodded toward a workbench.

Momoko nodded and followed. "It's not going to be one of yours, right? I don't want to break one and have you get mad at me."

"I have plenty, Momoko. And any damage you can do I can repair."

"I wouldn't make promises you can't keep, Triela!" Momoko laughed and pushed up her sleeve. "But I will do my best!"

Which we promise isn't an innuendo!

Scully knew how to clean her weapon. Doing so with a blindfold was... different. But it did keep her from talking much, thank God.

It wasn't easy, but Momoko slowly took her borrowed gun apart. The pieces spread out before her, she frowned and looked about. "Hey, where's the soap and water?"

They want to make sure you don't screw up

Triela was keeping a close eye on everyone. Because breaking a weapon simply because you were careless when working on it was bad!

If you screwed up, Makita was going to make you do it again and again until you got it right!
