3rd Floor Common Room [Friday, Afternoon]
Chuck was getting very well acquainted with common rooms the last day or so.
No reason. Really. But there was food right there, and TV, and big comfy couches to flop out on, and--
Okay, yes, maybe he was worried Leia would ask him to make himself scarce again, and then he'd know exactly why she wanted him out of the room for a while, and would end up thinking about that, and thinking about his roommate like that led to a whole pathway of wrong and awkward, and he tried to be respectful and not so...
Look, he was already awkward enough as it was.
So, common room hanging out it was. At least until this week was out. Luckily comics were easily brought with him out here. Not that they were really holding his attention. But he was trying to make them. Really, really trying.

Luckily, there were other common rooms.
And other boys.
Case in point.
"Oh, hello, Chuck."

"You uh, doing all right?" This week, it needed asking. He'd seen people who seemed to be enjoying it, and then there those like him who were vaguely twitchy with the whole thing.
no subject
"Uh, yeah," she said, with extra enthusiasm to make it perfectly clear, "definitely. I'm doing great, just great. Why wouldn't I be?"
no subject
"It seemed... right to ask." And suddenly it almost didn't. "--Is that too private a question this week? I mean, normally, I'd just ask but then with things this kind of, um--" That vague handgesture was meant to illustrate so many things, but just came out as flapping.

She was so going to have to go find Rinoa and tell her immediately so she didn't get upset that she had to hear about the breakup elsewhere, but if Chuck already knew, then probably everyone did...

He squirmed a little and firmly rerouted his attention from... that.
"But you're okay!" So she said. "So... that's good?" It was good. Why did he make that sound like a question?
no subject
"Well, sure, I'm okay," Ariel shrugged a little, giving Chuck a worried look as she wondered exactly how the whole event might have been reported. "I mean, it's not the end of the world. I've been through worse."
At least she hadn't turned into a mermaid this time...

"But it'll work itself out. It always does."

"I got good at the pillow fort thing." Lots of practice while studiously not thinking about why he was out here.

She shifted a little awkwardly, that reminder chaffing a bit due to the fact that a relationship hadn't been the only thing that ended on Wednesday.
"You should show me!" she said, realizing that was an excellent distraction because she really was interested, too. "Your pillow fort skills."

"So yes! ... These backrest type cushions make the best walls." They have that whole-- Structure thing going on. Architechture for pillow forts 101, right here."
no subject
"Do they?" asked Ariel, hopping up off the couch so that she could grab one and see what he meant. "Oooh, yes, that does make sense."

"Like... sports?" Not that he'd gone for that himself, but she was a little (or a lot) more athletic than he was.
