Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

Bruce could be out of his room without feeling the need to find a more private place with the first person he saw. It was a good feeling. A good enough feeling that Bruce was willing to actually risk messing with the television in the common room again. But first? Threats.

"If you act up on me, I will end you," Bruce whispered while kneeling in front of the set. "There's a window right there. I will throw you out of it. You will be destroyed. And then I'll buy a new TV for the floor. I can afford something that will make you look like you're a black and white set. Nobody will miss you. So behave, or you'll force me to prove that I'm serious."

Bruce settled into a seat on the sofa and turned on PBS. It worked just fine. "I'm glad we could come to this arrangement," Bruce said with a bit of a smirk.

Good job badgering the inanimate object into working, Bruce.

Elphaba leaned over, droid baby still in her arms, and took in Maladicta's presence for a moment. "I don't think we've met," she said, unknowing of who she was greeting.

"No, I don't believe we have," Maladicta replied with a smooth, if toothy grin. Oh god, another small fake child. "Maladicta."

And that got a momentary pause, as a rush of varying reactions ran through her head. She settled, finally, on an amused smile. "No wonder Faramir and Alexander mention you so often. It is good to finally meet you, I'm Elphaba."

Well, this was just awkward. "Have they?" she asked slowly. "Are you a friend of theirs?"

"Yes," Elphaba said with a nod. "Though I take it they've not mentioned me to you at all." A week ago, she'd be huffy about it. Today, she just let it roll right off her back.

"No more than we discuss anyone else," Maladicta replied. "Though Faramir tends to speak his Elvish at me, so it's possible he has."

"His Elvish?" Elphaba asked, intrigued. "I don't that's ever come up with our class discussions. He isn't part elf, is he?"

"Many generations back, I believe he said."

Ew. Elves.

"Interesting," Elphaba said. "I've never met an elf, myself. But they're somewhere in Oz, that I know." She coughed, politely. "But excuse my manners, I should hardly be asking you what you know of Faramir."

"Oz? Is that where you're from then?"

"Munchkinland, specifically," Elphaba explained. "My father is the royal governor. Though I think they're taking the royal part out of the name, now."

"The royal line is no longer in charge," Elphaba explained. "The Wizard has taken over in the absence of a Queen Ozma. Well, he took over a while ago, really. They're only just now changing some of the things in the outer lands like Munchkinland."

"You have a wizard ruling over you?" A beat. "Are you sure it's a wizard? I didn't think they did much other than eat and... well, that was about it."

"No one I know has ever met him," Elphaba admitted. "But he did see Oz through the great drought. But he's our Wizard, and everyone does tend to call him full of wonder."

"I can't be sure," Elphaba said, admittedly. "I've never met him, only heard stories."

And boy, was she in for a surprise if she ever read the children's book Kate had told her about.

"He doesn't sound much like one." Because Maladicta, you see, was a bloody expert.

"Well if I ever get a chance to take the yellow brick road to the Emerald City, I'll check in on him myself," Elphaba declared. "And that way I can be certain either way."

Somewhere... narrative causality was hitting it's head on the wall.

"Why yellow?"

How many people made yellow bricks? Really now, really.

"I'll ask him when I get there," Elphaba said. "It was his idea, or so I've been told. A highway of yellow brick, through the four major lands, all leading to the capitol."

Elphaba thought for a moment, then just shrugged. "I couldn't really say either way. It does look pretty, though."
