Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

Bruce could be out of his room without feeling the need to find a more private place with the first person he saw. It was a good feeling. A good enough feeling that Bruce was willing to actually risk messing with the television in the common room again. But first? Threats.

"If you act up on me, I will end you," Bruce whispered while kneeling in front of the set. "There's a window right there. I will throw you out of it. You will be destroyed. And then I'll buy a new TV for the floor. I can afford something that will make you look like you're a black and white set. Nobody will miss you. So behave, or you'll force me to prove that I'm serious."

Bruce settled into a seat on the sofa and turned on PBS. It worked just fine. "I'm glad we could come to this arrangement," Bruce said with a bit of a smirk.

Good job badgering the inanimate object into working, Bruce.

There was a pause before Maladicta said, "Let's not find out, shall we?"

"Agreed," Bruce said. Although he was now curious how strong her sense of smell was and what he could do to confuse it if he needed to. "What about you? You seem fairly free of angst after last week. But I hear that's big with vampire romances these days."

Yes, Bruce, taunt the vampire by telling her about horrible vampire fiction.

SHE DIDN'T SPARKLE, DAMN IT.

"I wanted to eat everyone," Maladicta replied kindly. "Your roommate and Alexander managed to keep enough coffee around to prevent this."

"Faramir's quick on the uptake," Bruce said. "I'm not surprised that he managed to survive."

"Going to keep a hefty emergency coffee stash?" Bruce checked.

"And more storage on the go."

That was far more important.

"Talk to Alexander about making a utility belt. He's handy with leather," Bruce said.

"He's working on a pouch for my clothing the next time I turn into bats, actually."

"You can actually do that? I figured that was just part of legend," Bruce said.

Maladicta shot him a look. "Of course I can. It's mostly an annoyance when it's unplanned, though."

"So your clothes don't transform along with your body?" Bruce checked.

And if this were last week, Bruce would have been besieged by thoughts of Maladicta naked. Which isn't to say that it wasn't in the back of his head now, but he was functioning very well despite that, thank you very much.
