Perhaps the Gremlins had had a party the night before, and one of them had decided to sleep it off in her room. Who knows? The only thing that is certain is that when Leda rolled out of bed this morning she'd gotten a nasty surprise.

Just where the Gremlin had gotten the spoon that was nearly as tall as she was, we will never know. But now she stood at the table in the kitchen, staring at a bowl of cereal.

"Mah spoon is too big." She stared for a bit longer. "Mah spoon is too big!"

James tried to relax a bit. "You still haven't explained the spoon." He knew better than to mention anything about anyone being rotund.

"I'm...not sure I can. You know about the gremlins right?"

"I have heard of them," he said, guardedly.

Leda lay the spoon down. "The one that bit me had that stashed somewhere I think."

"That's overlarge for even a troll to use," he stated, looking at the heft of it. "It's a trophy, now."

"I'm thinking it might come in handy for the next invasion."

"You should practice wielding it, first," he said. "I still have my crossbow from that underwater place. I use it about once a week, just practice."

"Which reminds me, I'd love more fencing lessons."

He grinned. "Any time. You can also work on muscle and technique by swinging around a broomstick or iron bar, whatever you find that's a bit heavier than the sword. It's a work out."

She'd been doing a bit of that since her training in Faerie as well. "I've been swinging a baseball bat a lot."

"The big wood club? That helps," he said. He'd yet to play this 'baseball' game himself.

Neither had she, but it was somewhat cathartic to beat on the punching bags with it.

"I think I prefer the sword though. Dunno why."

"More precise. Swords have that angle, can slice or use the flat of the blade. Unless you want to be a Basher." He gave a lopsided grin at that.

"Mmm, I don't think I'm quite the basher type. Guess I'll stick to swords. And Magic of course. And guns if I'm in a place where they work."

"I stick to swords. Occasionally magic, but that is as far as I've gone." Guns were too new for him.

Leda nodded. "So, is this the first gremlin bite you've seen?"

"That's what this is?" he asked. "Bite of a gremlin?"

"Yeah, they bite you and you spend some time thinking you're someone else."

"It sounds interesting."

His tone made it sound anything but.

"It ain't boring." Leda had been, through the bites, a gothic babysitter, a private detective, Elvira and a weird poet girl. Actually she'd thought it was kind of fun.

"I'm not sure that is a good thing," he pointed out.

Leda was not a fan of boredom. Even after kicking her partying ways to the wayside. "C'mon, it doesn't do any harm." You know, once the pain of the bite faded.

"I would not count on that," he said, raising an eyebrow. Really? Saying random things while holding a spoon over half your height? He was not yet won over.
