Peter Bishop was having a pretty good day. He had ordered a couple pizzas from the local pizzeria just to tempt people into the common room.

He was tempting people because he'd set up a Three Card Monte game on a table, and was practicing it. Just for fun, of course. But if anyone wanted to bet, well, he'd do it. With any non-telepath.

Technically he needed another person to work this fully, or so he'd read. But this was mainly just prestidigitation practice.

"Find the lady, find the lady," he said, practicing his patter.

"The pizza's part of the bait," Peter greeted with a smile. "Have as much as you'd like. It's one of those baseball movie things. If you bring food, they will come. Or, well, almost like that movie."

Nodding, Dru snagged a slice of pizza and flopped onto the couch. "See I look on it as baiting the trap appropriately. What better way to lure some poor unsuspecting soul in?"

"A litter of puppies?" Peter said. "That'd definitely get people to put their guards down. But possibly distract them so much they don't want to play."

He thought that one over as he moved the cards back and forth.

"Yeah, that's a no-go on the puppy idea."

"Awww, but that would fun. And cuddly." At least till they had to clean up the mess the puppies made.

"So do you do this often?" she asked with a nod towards the cards.

"Often, no," Peter said. "Coin tricks are more my speed, but this is more sort of an... experiment. Making sure I can do it, mainly. Just in case I need to hustle my way across Europe or something."

He stopped moving the cards.

"Which might actually be, pardon the expression, in the cards for me."

"Personally I prefer pool." Dru had spent way too much time hanging out in bars while her father was on the hunt and looking for information. "But this is a bit more portable. So that's useful. Why Europe? The States aren't interesting enough for you?"

"It's one thing to manage to get your way across a country where they all speak English," Peter said. "Making your way across countries where English ends up being less common, that takes a lot more skill and resourcefulness."

"Point, although if you get into some of the back bayous down in Louisiana your going to get a similar experience without the jet lag," she pointed otu.

"Well, I've got a whole life ahead of me," Peter said. "So I've got time to see it all, really. Some may call that slacking off, I say I just have a different kind of ambition."

"As far as plans go, I like it," Dru said. "It's a little better then mine at the moment which is a pretty big blank after I get to graduation."

"I'd offer to have you tag along, but I think we're in different universes," Peter said. "Or at the least, probably different timeframes. I get to have the fun of jumping a decade back in time after I graduate."

If there weren't vampires that would want to snack on her in his world, Dru might consider taking him up on that. "Oh that could be interesting if you make the right bets and stock investments."

"I've thought about it," Peter said. "Buy a sports almanac, take it back with me... but that might do some serious damage to the time-space continuum. Maybe."

She took a bit of pizza and considered it. "Only if the obnoxious guy gets a hold it. Like in that movie series from the 80s. Remember?"

Peter snapped his fingers. "I knew that idea couldn't have been my own," he said. "Thought I'd read it somewhere, but you're right. Then again, whose saying I'm not the wrong guy?"
