Peter Bishop was having a pretty good day. He had ordered a couple pizzas from the local pizzeria just to tempt people into the common room.

He was tempting people because he'd set up a Three Card Monte game on a table, and was practicing it. Just for fun, of course. But if anyone wanted to bet, well, he'd do it. With any non-telepath.

Technically he needed another person to work this fully, or so he'd read. But this was mainly just prestidigitation practice.

"Find the lady, find the lady," he said, practicing his patter.

"Now that's interesting," Peter said. "Your new friends were the 'bad crowd', huh? Did you manage to hide this all from your parents?"

"Yeah, they never suspected a thing," Lindsay replied. "Got the place all cleaned up before they got home. I later found out my little brother switched the beer with non-alcoholic. Tricked everyone."

"Placebo effect?" Peter said. "Proof that most high school students just want an excuse to act like idiots, really. That must have been... really fun, actually."

"It was for a little while...until there was too much idiocy," Lindsay admitted. "I mean, people who didn't even attend my school showed up. Finally just made everyone think someone called the cops. That'll get people to leave anything."

"Pretty clever," Peter admitted. "Anyone ever tell you that you're way more clever than you give yourself credit for?"

"I don't get that one often so thanks for saying so," Lindsay replied honestly. The cop thing wasn't even her idea, but she was clever enough to take credit for it right now. Or something. "Think I've got a future in hustling people for profit?"

She was trying not to laugh.

"Depends," Peter said. "You've always struck me as the kind of girl that would let that kind of thing... weight on her. No offense."

"None taken," Lindsay said. "Because that's a totally valid point."

She did tend to feel a lot of guilt whenever she did anything remotely wrong, so that was fair.
