Fifth Floor Common Room; Friday Evening [ 01/07 ].
So Ariel's plans didn't turn out quite as she would have liked. Raven was appearing to have a bad day, but she still really wanted to have pizza, inspired by earlier with her idea, and, though it didn't have the privacy of her room like she was sort of thinking would be nice, she still could (try to, anyway) invite Chuck to come have some with her.
It just meant others might have some with them, too. But she could turn it into a party and go with it, and so she picked up a few more pizzas, with a lot of different toppings (no sardines or anchovies, yuck!), but the most prominent one, of course, was the inspiration for all of it.
Because at Pizza Planet, they said they would make a Cheetos pizza for her.
It was almost enough to make up for the loss of some...ahem...more private time to see how she and Chuck might handle some...ahem...private time...
[[ open common room is open! pizzas are moddable! I WILL NOT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT MY FAILURE TO TAG ANYONE YESTERDAY EITHER ]]

Elphaba swallowed, not just physically but figuratively as well.
"Some don't bother to get to know what's on the inside," she said.
As it was, Elphaba's problem wasn't so much being green on the outside, but being green on the inside.

"It's really hard to see something when someone doesn't let you see it," she offered in response, with a faint, almost apologetic smile.

Even when being sincere, she had an edge to her.

Careful, Elphaba. Ariel was about three seconds away from a song.

Elphaba frowned. "...well, most of the time."

But she did take a moment to go over what she had said, too, just to make sure. She didn't think she'd said anything mean, though; definitely nothing to earn the suggestion that she only liked romance because she was dependent on other people to be happy or simply because she was pretty.

She was honestly wondering, here. "No offense is meant, but I don't it's all as simple as you think it is."

Yes, because that cleared it all up, Elphaba.

"You don't see it at all," she said. "Because perhaps you don't realize how easy it is, because you've never known what it's like to be so ugly."

She then sucked in a breath, her own temper getting the best of her, and she stomped her foot, crossing her arms in front of her as she pulled herself up defiantly.
"You're right!" she shouted. "I don't know what it's like! Because I'm not ugly and I don't plan to be, and I'm not going to stand there and accuse people of things based on assumptions and then go and cry to make them feel bad! You're not ugly, Elphaba. Not on the outside. But inside, you are, and that's why you have such a hard time! This is a party. Have fun, or go back to your room and cry about how no one likes you because you're a great big party pooper!"
And that, Ariel decided with a sniff and a lift of her chin, was that.

"And you just prove all my points," she said. "Enjoy your party. But if you think I'm ugly on the inside, you don't realize when someone is trying to open up to you. You see what you want to see, Ariel. Perhaps you don't want to deal with things that don't fit into your pretty little world."
And she turned to leave, because she knew if she got more upset, magic might happen. And since she couldn't control it, that'd be very bad indeed.

Ariel was now pretty convinced that she was.
And her temper was sparked, and so it would take a lot more than a hypocritical statement that didn't even make much sense to simmer it down.
"Open up?" she shouted, and, even if Elphaba left, she wanted it to follow her down the hall. "Since when is trashing someone and putting them down for something they like opening up to them? And I'm sorry my pretty little world doesn't fit into your moody ugly one!"
no subject
She turned around. "I'm sorry that's what I said," she said, her tone very even.
"It's not how I truly feel. But it's what I must tell myself to believe because how often those avenues are closed to me. If you're happy with your beliefs, that is fine. But please don't tell me all I have to do is open up, when it hasn't worked for me."

She was even, and careful. It took a lot for Elphaba to pull down all her defenses like this, but she'd finally seen that she was taking out her frustrations on someone innocent, just because they seemed happy and committed the terrible crime of being pretty.
