Second Floor Common Room; Sunday Morning
Leo was wide awake after radio and he wasn't comfortable enough to spend all his time stalking Fixer-Uppers yet, so he decided to check out the common room on his floor. It seemed nice, not as high-tech as cabin nine, but it had a TV and food so he really couldn't find much to complain about.
He put the TV onto ESPN and idly listened to the anchors talking about the playoff games today while making himself breakfast. Southwestern omelets. The actual, good, Southwestern kind. Not that crap rolled up into a burrito that you got at McDonalds for two bucks.
[The common room is open, yes]

"I don't think anyone's ever assessed my talent in that general area just going off my name," he said and made it sound like the compliment it was. "On paper, thank you. I don't know if it's true or not but I thank you for saying it anyway. I doubt I could do the same thing, connecting your skill in that area to your name."

Oh, so British.

People always seemed either surprised or suspicious when they called him that. It was odd.
"Besides, I'd call it more respectful and curious than anything. I don't want to assume anything about you because that's not my place or right but I'm curious about you."

That was a...non creeper thing to say, he thought.
"I've known a werewolf myself. She was from Romania, made me awful stew and saved my life from a pack of ghouls that had once kidnapped me. I think anyone who wants to know more about them besides the rather awful stereotypes given in the media is worth being curious about. It seems to mean they're open minded and willing to learn rather than just judging a species immediately."

It was nice to meet someone who didn't automatically look horrified at him talking about the supernatural. "I was raised by a graveyard full of ghosts and a vampire. They kept me safe and made sure I was raised well. I can't help thinking that. Thank you for not automatically being scared by hearing where I've come from too."

Bod smiled again and it seemed a little easier to do at the moment. He didn't think about that though.
"I preferred pizza for lunch, actually. I'm sure Silas ate but he never shared that with me and I respected that. I knew he had to and I saw no harm in that. He knew how to be responsible."

He'd had a good mentor and reason for thinking that.
"It doesn't surprise me that people hunt them though," he added, shaking his head. "A lot of stereotypes and misunderstandings seem to exist about vampires which means a small handful of misbehaving vampires dictate what people think of vampires in general which just isn't fair. There are bad vampires, bad werewolves and bad humans too and yet, no one cowers in fear at the mention of knowing a human."
