The thing about days off from classes was that Nico ended up way more tired than the days he had classes. Luke had kicked his ass in new and inventive ways today that really had Nico repressing the time he'd seen a different Luke use some of those moves. It was a terrifying thought that he wasn't having. Taking Mrs. O'Leary out for a run had helped a little, but after getting cleaned up he just didn't feel like hanging in his own room.

Nico clicked on the common room television and promptly lost the remote, meaning he was just going to sit on the sofa and zone out to some channel entirely devoted to food preparation. Eh, Nico supposed there were worse things to stare at, but the old lady obsessed with butter reminded him of Demeter and the way she force-fed him grain. So disturbing, but better than thinking about his own cousin issues.

"Laugh and I'll make you come sit and watch with me," Nico warned. Such a terrible threat. "But if you want to change it, feel free. This channel makes me hungry."

Jason went around and sat down next to Nico, but didn't change the channel. "You can't make me sit with you if I'll do it willingly," he said. "I'll keep an eye out for the remote and change it if I find it." It was possible he was a little lazy too.

"Are you sure I didn't just manipulate you into sitting down?" Nico asked teasingly. "I mean, you seemed totally willing to stay on that side of the sofa till I gave you the idea to sit with me."

"I was willing to stay on that side of the sofa until I knew it was okay to sit down with you," Jason explained. "Now that I know it's okay, here I am."

"Why wouldn't it be okay?" Nico wondered. "I wasn't saving this seat for anyone." He also wasn't in fourth grade where that was necessary.

"I don't know, you might have claimed the whole sofa for yourself or something," Jason said with a shrug. "Or maybe you were saving the seat. Now it's mine."

"That's right, I was saving all this empty space for my nap," he teased. "I'll try not to make you my pillow sitting down."

Jason laughed. "I'm not sure if I'd mind that. I mean, I can't rule it out."

"Does that mean there's no list of lines Jason won't cross?" Nico checked. "Or is 'being used as a human pillow' just on the acceptable side?"

"I'm pretty sure there's lines I won't cross," Jason said, thinking of one or two right away. "But being used as a human pillow isn't one of them."

Now Nico was all kinds of curious about the lines Jason wouldn't cross. "Any I should be aware of? Drinking from your water? Messing up your hair?" Watch him reach to cross that line as he said it.

"Hey!" Jason said, swatting at Nico's hand. "I mean serious things. Like, illegal things. Although I might have to add messing up my hair to my list."

Nico raised an eyebrow, pulling his hand back to his own space. "You're going to tell me illegal things are over the line?" Like he'd believe it.

"Well, some are. Like really hurting each other," Jason said. "Some things aren't because they're too much fun."

Nico hadn't even been thinking of injury, more like things he was already prone to doing. "I just meant your little illegal habit that I've never seen, but can certainly smell sometimes."

Jason blushed a little in embarrassment. "Sorry, I know the whole smoking thing bothers a lot of people. I can like, chew gum or something so you won't smell it as much? If I know I'm going to see you?"

Nico smirked at making him blush. "It doesn't bother me, I just think it's cute you try to hide it."

"To be honest, it never really occurred to me not to hide it," Jason said. "I have to hide it at home so Bruce doesn't get pissed, and I just figured you don't smoke, so you probably don't like it either."

"I'm surprised he tolerates it at all," Nico said. "If I started, I don't know how I'd keep a habit like that up year round."

"Why couldn't you do it year round?" Jason asked, scooting closer on the sofa and avoiding the topic of how Bruce looked past things like that since it didn't have any obvious effect on Jason's health.

"It's not like there are a lot of stores around camp and I'd probably piss off a lot of ghosts smoking in the Underworld," Nico pointed out, catching how Jason redirected the conversation off of himself, as usual.

"Really? I'd figure smoking would fit right in down there," Jason said. "At least, it does in my mental image."

"Not quite," Nico replied before turning the conversation right back onto Jason. "Have you smoked for long? You're only fifteen, so..." Yes, it was the implication that Jason couldn't possibly have smoked since he was eleven or there was seriously something wrong with his world.

"I've been doing it since I was about twelve," Jason said, knowing he couldn't dodge a direct question. "I'd steal them from my mom when she wasn't looking and...well, then I got them on my own. I don't smoke much, just every once in a while when I'm either really up or really down."

The logical question to follow that was really, "So are you up or down?" Nico felt like he'd probably missed out on some things here.
