Fifth Floor Common Room; Sunday Evening [ 01/30 ].
Ariel was hungry, but Ariel was also lazy, and, since she really shouldn't be cooking anyway, she was glad she was discovering the joy that was toaster-ready French Toast.
She only even burned a few of them! And that could easily be solved by dousing them in plenty of maple syrup. A little bit of orange juice to wash it down, and Ariel was feeling like she had herself a plate full of culinary, gourmet awesomeness! Now to just find a comfortable spot on the couch, kick her feet up on the coffee table, and see if there was anything good on television to watch while she had her shut up totally healthy dinner.

She spotted the familiar head of red hair on the couch and called out softly, "Ariel?"

And let out a little excited squeal. "Raven! Hi! Come on, come here!" She was scooting, bouncing on the cushions to make room on the couch beside her. "Come help me find something good on television; it looks like slim pickings tonight!"

Hey, there was a lot to say when your roommate was dead for a few weeks and then came back.

"I am...well," she said. "I returned to our room briefly to change; the clothes I came back with were inappropriate. I did see the rose -- thank you for that. I hope you have been doing well in my absence."
no subject
"Have you seen Jono yet, too? I'll be he's going to be really excited!"
no subject
Excited wasn't the word she'd use, though. Traumatized, yes.

"That's great!" she assumed. "Can I ask what happened? Oh, wait! Should I get some ice cream, and then asked what happened? Or, really, what happened is in the past now, too, so we can get some ice cream and talk about what's ahead since you're not dead after all! Man, that's got to feel great!"
She was getting caught up in her excitement again, bouncing where she sat and looking at Raven eagerly, though whether it was for the ice cream or the returned roommate, it was hard to tell. It could easily be either or both.

She nibbled on the french toast stick, gathering her thoughts. She didn't want to scare Ariel with any of the gory details, so she kept the explanation as simple as she could. "I was brought back by someone wished to use my gifts for evil," she said. "But Jono -- and Karla, and Professor Skywalker, and Sookie and Bobby and Dinah and Tahiri and Warren -- they were able to free me and bring me back safely. I owe them all my life."

Of course, without details, she only could compare it to her own experiences, but it seemed, as far as she knew, fitting enough.

He was admittedly a little surprised that the room wasn't filled with smoke. "Is everything okay?" he asked suspiciously.
no subject
She asked with full confidence that the answer would just leave more for her.

"The ones on the right are especially burnt," she hinted.

Though, to be honest, she wasn't sure herself. She left it pretty open-ended for however Bruce wanted to take it.

She had no idea about Ariel's own experience with evil; Ariel was innocent of such awful things, as far as she was concerned.

Man, this conversation was really making her think she should write to her father....and maybe throw in an extra visit, too.

But then she frowned thoughtfully, and shook her head. "No, that can't be right. It puts out Pop Tarts perfectly..."

She impulsively reached over to hug Ariel.

And, really, as soon as she remembered what had occupied most of the time during the summer, it came back to her pretty quickly. "Oh, right," she said, turning her favorite shade of pink. "It was, uh...well...nothing I've been having any trouble with in a while..."
That was a nice way to put it.

Okay, maybe. A little.
