Third Floor Common Room; Sunday Afternoon [ 02/13 ].

When one considered the situation, and the fact that Malaxandra was clearly from a Crazy Future that Would Never Exist, one was able to take this whole thing in stride. Besides, he rather enjoyed the company of his fake half-vampire daughter, and he would always enjoy the company of his fake future councilor that fakely birthed her, and so they were doing the only thing such a family could do to spend time together and bond.

However, they barely got into the movie and into the tubs of ice cream before Alexander had to comment in a whispered tone to Maladicta, "Maybe we shouldn't have let her pick out the film..."

To be fair, who wouldn't have thought Rule of Flame showed promise?

[[ HERE. HAVE MORE OPEN COMMON ROOMS =D ]]

"She has your taste in movies," Maladicta replied slowly.

Amazingly, somehow Eloise had managed to escape her father today. Imagine that. Since she'd had so much fun in the third-floor common room yesterday, that was her go-to spot for today. She wandered in like she owned the place, snuck up behind the couch, and remarked loudly, "I don't like this movie."

Elphaba had amazingly spent her entire yesterday alone in her room, trying to float a pencil with her magic.

She'd actually gotten it about a centimeter up, but every time she did that, she got so excited she'd lost her concentration.

So when she entered a common room and discovered a child in the company of Alexander and Maladicta, she was more than a little confused.

"Is this someone's little sister?" she asked.

[identity profile] nothingbutgrey.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Eloise caught sight of Elphaba and gaped.

"Are you from the Deathwok Clan (http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/Deathwok_Clan)?" she asked eagerly, peering up at Elphaba excitedly. Wow! She'd never seen one of those in real life before. In Daddy's books, certainly, but never in person!

"I don't know what that is," Elphaba said. "So I'm definitely not, unless it's some term for Oz from some culture I'm not familiar with. Then again, I don't think Oz is known outside of itself in anything other than the story for children I've been told about."

Claudia had answered Stan's "I'm boooooored" with "what the hell am I supposed to do about that?", so Stan had wandered off.

"You know," he said, wandering right into the common room and watching the television for a moment. "That could totally happen if someone started messing with Tolkein's wedding ring."

Melinda and William had managed to wear their mother out to the point where she was sleeping, and decided to go explore in the dorm. They left a note! (IN TV ROOMZ. BAK L8TR.)

William had stayed downstairs, but Melinda had gone Investigating up one flight. Hmmm. Ooo! Dragons on the TV! She leaned forward to watch and then looked around at the other people in the room.

"No, no, the Deathwok Clan is demons!" Eloise exclaimed, definitely getting more excited now. "Are you sure you're not one?" she asked tilting her head. "You're green."

[identity profile] didntchewgrass.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thank you for noticing," Elphaba said, not harsh of tone but her face did scrunch for a moment. "I'm the only green person in all of Oz, as far as I know. So I'm not part of any clan, just by way of it being impossible to have a clan of one."

[identity profile] scullyscions.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Who's Tolkein?" Melinda asked, looking back from the TV at the older boy. "Can we make dragons?"

Hey. Her dad lots of cool stuff. Maybe dragon-making wasn't out of the question.

[identity profile] nothingbutgrey.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh," Eloise said, considerably deflated. "Well. I read about the Deathwok Clan, and they're green too."

Yes, Eloise, that was established already.

Melinda had been listening to part of this, looking at Elphaba with awe. "You're not an alien neither?" she checked. "Oz isn't another planet?"

[identity profile] daventry-vamp.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering Malaxandra's life in Daventry, this question was to be expected. "Are you a fairy Queen?"

[identity profile] didntchewgrass.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"They must be from a different world or region," Elphaba said. "I hope it's not disappointing that I'm not."

It'd honestly be the first time anyone was disappointed about her not being another sort of green person. Which was mildly amusing.

"Old famous writer guy. And, no, the ring's all locked up. Gramps never even lets me near that section."

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"...I have far better taste than this."

[identity profile] nothingbutgrey.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Eloise looked mildly contrite. "Well, I thought it would be rather nice to meet a Deathwok," she admitted. Then, encouragingly: "But you're still green! That's exciting."

[identity profile] scullyscions.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Awwwww," was Melinda's take on that. "I want a dragon. Daddy won't get me a puppy." To a five-year-old, each looked equally likely. "Have you seen dragons?"

[identity profile] didntchewgrass.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"It could be," Elphaba said. "So I might very well be an alien, if that's all it takes. But I'm not like the aliens on TV, just to make that clear."

She couldn't help but smile at all the children.

"I think Lurline would be very cross if I claimed to be," Elphaba said. "I'm just a normal, everyday Munchkinlander. Well, apart from the skin."

And the magic. And the being half-Earth-human, but she didn't know that part.

[identity profile] nudged.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Some tiny lab grown ones got out in my dad's company, once." Stan adjusted his glasses. "It wasn't my fault."

Mr. Carter had yelled at him anyway, though. No one had told Stan he wasn't allowed to hang out with Mr. Taggert when he visited.

[identity profile] scullyscions.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're pretty," Melinda decided, leaning over the back of the couch, peering curiously at Elphaba. "Do you know my mom? Do you do science? You don't fly spaceships?" After this peppering of questions, Melinda shared, "I'm five. I like to know stuff."

[identity profile] daventry-vamp.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"...what's a Munchkinlander?" Malaxandra asked. "Does this mean you're an evil witch?"
