First Floor Rec Room / Kappa Delta Gremlin Meeting / Tuesday Afternoon

When the sorority members arrived in the rec room today, they'd find only Emma, perched comfortably with a smirk in the comfiest chair. "We were going to discuss sexual education today," she said briskly. "But since Quinn is busy sleeping off the consequences of her choices - it was a charming child, I'm sure - I'm going to usurp the meeting today to call attention to our mission as a sorority."

"Kappa Delta Gremlin was founded as a service-oriented sorority aimed at promoting self-esteem and life skills for female, or female-identifying, Fandom students. Now, what 'service-oriented' means is that the money we earned in the bake sale is going to go towards paying expenses for a larger fundraiser, not more spa trips."

She leaned over and picked up some official-looking pamphlets off the floor and started passing them around. "Now, Kappa Delta, our parent sorority, supports four national philanthropies: Girl Scouts of the USA, Prevent Child Abuse America, the Children's Hospital of Richmond, Virginia, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Research Awards. Quinn and I are looking at holding both a Fun Run and a date auction to try to raise money for one of these organizations, and you can participate in either or both events."

"Another activity options is that every Kappa Delta collegiate chapter holds an annual "Shamrock Event" to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America, as well as a local children's philanthropy of their chapter's choice. We, however, have not selected a charity to support as a group."

"I'd like us to discuss as a group which of the four nationals we'd like to focus on, or if there's a charity closer to home that we think is a better fit for us. Thoughts?"

Kate had come straight from the Perk, so snacking wasn't really something she wanted to do. Neither was mingling, really, but for wholly different reasons.

But... at least she'd still shown up?

Since Sookie had come in from work, she wasn't exactly hungry, and she wasn't even all that mingly. More subdued than anything, really.

It seemed this school lived off of mingling and snacking but that was just fine for Caroline as she'd yet to grab her afternoon blood and stuffing her face with snacks would help her deal with that.

Karla had woken up thrilled to not be a mother anymore, though her good mood had quickly faded after seeing what a state her roommate was in. She wished she could pin her current introspective state on that, but she had to admit she was kind of missing the kids, too. Several times today, she'd glanced behind her, to make sure everyone was following along okay only to see...no one.

Hmmm.

Ellie was not exactly in a mingling mood, but she was here. She didn't mind the snacks, though.

"I was a Brownie," Sookie offered softly after a moment's thought. "And I know the Girl Scouts do a lot of good work that would be aimed at those other charities, too. But preventing child abuse is, um, kind of important to me, too, so...those two are my top choices, I guess?"

Karla glanced over at Sookie and nodded. "Umm, I don't know what baked goods have to do with anything?" she said. "But the child abuse prevention thing is really important, I think. There are so many different ways children can be victimized. That and the hospital, would be my choices."

"Type of Girl Scout, sweetie," Sookie said, shaking her head. "Little girls are called Brownies. But the baked thing is good, too."
glacial_queen: (Huh?)

"Oh," Karla said, nodding.

"...What's a Girl Scout, exactly?"

"It's a program to help little girls -- and then older girls, but I was like, eight when I dropped out -- do service for the community. Like a sorority for little ones," Sookie explained carefully. "Also, they sell the best cookies ever. Better than mine. Better than anyone's."

This was Karla's 'dubious' face. "Not better than Mrs. Beale's," she declared. "Or Alfred's."

Better than their cookies just didn't exist.

"You need to try them," Sookie said, shaking her head. "You know not what you say."

"Can this week be over already?"

Hello to you too, Kate. Try not to project your general emo and exhaustion all over the place.

"It's not like I'm doing it on purpose," Kate replied, making a face. "My weekend is bleeding into this week."

And the fact that the last time she remembered being truly happy was a random time back in December had nothing to do with anything.

"Well, my weekend was spent playing happy family with Bod," Kate shared, raising her eyebrows. "I liked Dorian. Everything else sucked."

No it hadn't. But that was part of the problem.

Now, of course Jane could only excitedly support such a focus in the girls, and she was eager to see what they might come up with together.
