After what seemed like a winter that lasted forever, Bod was glad to see the temperatures warming enough that he could spend some time outside. He enjoyed common rooms but they didn't compare with finding a seat on the deck and breathing in the fresh air. There was just something he preferred about being outside and lounging in natural light. It was stupid but he'd never been the most normal boy.

With a book that he'd read already in hand, he'd found a seat on the deck and settled himself into it. It was still cool and there was a crisp wind but he wasn't cold. The seasons were on the cusp of changing, going from chilly grays to bright yellows and Bod couldn't wait.

Now, he just had to guard against napping on the deck. It had happened before, it'd happen again.

"Really?" Bod asked, surprised despite himself. "When you're just sitting being idle, you don't think at all?"

"Nope," Jeremy replied idly, looking up at the sky. "My mind is completely blank. I can just sit somewhere and before I know it, it's like three hours later."

"I...would literally lose my mind," Bod laughed, shaking his head. "I can sit still for awhile but thoughts constantly intrude. They're not always relevant thoughts either. I just wonder things random things. That might be why I don't always sleep all that well."

Jeremy looked at him curiously, like he couldn't even comprehend how that was possible. Then he shook his head.

"Well, I'm glad I don't have that problem," he decided. "I sleep like a baby. Though sometimes I think that might just be because I have awesome quality sheets."

"The sheets make a difference?" Bod asked, raising an eyebrow. "What happens when the sheets you have aren't as quality?"

Jeremy shrugged. "I don't know." Wasn't like he'd tried too often. "I... might not sleep so good?"

"So, you're not one to try camping, are you?" Bod asked, amused. "I wonder how you'll do when we move to the cabins come summer."

[stars_and_money]

"Cabins?" Jeremy perked up, completely ignoring the camping bit. "We live in cabins in the summer? Sweet, man, I can totally do that. My family has a cabin."

Dear Jeremy, a house in the Hamptons is not a cabin. Neither is that place in Italy.

"You...like cabins?" Bod asked, honestly surprised by that. "Uh, yes, we do. They're down a way's from the dorms and there's about eight to a cabin. It's fun if you enjoy the fresh air. The campfires are one of my favorite things."

"Kinda old school, I can dig that," Jeremy replied, nodding approvingly. Then he cocked his head, like something else was bugging him about what the other boy had said. "Wait, if the school has cabins that close by, then why are we slumming it in the dorms in our tiny rooms?"

Ah, he was catching on.

"How big do you think the cabins are?" Bod had to ask, sensing there might be some misunderstanding happening here. "The space you get to yourself is actually smaller than a dormitory room."

Jeremy's face fell as he processed that information. "Is that even legal?"

He should call Dutch and ask.

"It's really not that bad," Bod said, laughing at that reaction. "There's plenty of room for a bed and a place to put your clothes. And the privacy curtain works well when you need to be alone."

[stars_and_money]

"Privacy curtains?" Yeah, color Jeremy a little shocked. His quarters at home were pretty much a small apartment in a larger apartment, he thought he was allowed. "What, are there no doors?"

"Well, there's a front door to the cabin proper but the actual alcoves have no doors, no," Bod said and chuckled. "So, if you have a visitor, you'd have to be quiet."

"And there's not a chance of renting out private cabin, is there?" Jeremy asked, not managing to sound too hopeful about that.

"Maybe I should just sign up for another tennis camp instead."

"I'm afraid not," he said and chuckled at how stricken Jeremy seemed to be getting. "All of the cabins are pretty much occupied when we move down there. It's really not that bad. It's a good opportunity to meet new people."

"The dorms are a good opportunity to meet people," Jeremy stated with a flaily gesture that was meant to indicate the building in question. "Even if my room is the size of a postage stamp. I don't want one that's half a postage stamp with no door!"

"Why not?" Bod asked curiously. "What's so wrong about living in a place that's so small? I've done it before and I've survived. You can't just think of it as a challenge for yourself? So you can say you've done it?"

"I'm not really a challenge kind of guy." He made a face and slumped a little more in his chair. "I don't think where you're living should be a challenge. I barely know where to put all my stuff now."

"Well, I suppose you could always book yourself at the hotel but I think you'd miss out on a lot of the socialization and fun that goes on when we move into the cabins," Bod suggested. "I think everyone has to make adjustments though."

[stars_and_money]

"I don't know, that sounds more like something one of my big brothers would do." Wasn't adjusting a priest-like thing to do? Jeremy thought so, and -- Wait. "Oh, Jules is going to flip out when she hears about this."

"Maybe you'll be good at it?" Bod tried, shrugging. "If you haven't tried it, maybe it's a hidden talent that you haven't yet found. Maybe it won't be so bad."

"Maybe," Jeremy relented. It wasn't in his nature to be stubborn or upset for too long. "And that's still a couple of months away, right? So who knows, might even get kicked out before that."

That wasn't really something that should have been said with so much ease.

"Are you planning on getting kicked out of school?" Bod asked, sounding amused. "From what I know of this place, it's going to take quite a lot to do that."
